Bump for an old thread.
Seeing as I had to rewire my headlights anyway (the plug had melted), I've taken the advice in this thread and moved the earth. - I can't say I can notice that much difference, but I'm comparing it to a headlight that previously had no high-beam and it's still daylight.
I'm not putting 100W bulbs in because the wiring in the car is smaller than the 8A wiring (8A x 12V = 96W) I've used in the new plug, so it seems like that's asking for a fusion.
