How does a standard pulsar feel performance wise to peeps??

Just wondering about this as I feel like sometimes im just driving a 16v car. Doesnt feel like theres much of a kick and I feel like it should be quicker. Maybe its due to the fact they run low boost on a big turbo so it feels very smooth on the power delivery, Ive just fixed a boost leak on my girlfriends A3 1.8T, which has been chipped to 210bhp, Just driving it round the block it feels so much quicker, plus my 11T kicks you in the back, but then both these cars run 1bar of boost on smaller Turbos.

What do they feel like performance wise for other peeps runing standard boost??

When i first got mine it was totally standard and you wouldnt even know it had a turbo. You're right it dosent feel any different to driving a 2L 16v naturally aspirated car because it feels so smooth and there isnt really any kick from the turbo ;-)

Their nothing special performance wise unmodded once rolling either, quite a lot of the hot hatches around these days will easily keep up with them ;-)

Its should still feel faily quick on standard boost, I know we all get use to modified performance, and when we drop the boost it feels like its holding back, but standard is still quicker than some so called performance cars, and can still be great fun down the right road. Try driving some normal hatches.

I think 0-100 should be about 15sec, similar to that of the fastest high bhp modern hot hatches on the road, but this doesn't show the whole story because we all know R's launch well, so taking that away its 60-100 is still under 10secs, which shouldn't be far off the Audi 1.8T with 210 you mentioned, in fact if anything, pulsars can feel quicker becuase of its rawness and noise.

I would run the R at a respected RR to get an idea if its running standard power, or at least run it up a drag strip and see what times, and more importantly terminal speeds you can get. Should be 95-99mph ish for a completely standard car with a perfect run/conditions.

The Gtir runs what I'd call a small turbo (T28) with moderate boost (10psi) which is why it feels like there's no kick as there's next to no lag.
They proved with the Escort cosworth, the small turbo version could out pace the big turbo version due to the lack of lag. It was faster in most areas.
But I now what you mean, I came from a T3 turbo running about 17psi and the lack of kick was a disappointment.

I always remember mine feeling quick when I first got it and I had a Celica GT-Four before that which was running just over 300 bhp with similar torque. So, would have been somewhat de-sensitised to the sensation of speed ! I do agree that there was no real kick though but, I think that's been explained by the previous posts !
First thing you need to do is get a decent large bore exhaust with decat and large bore turbo elbow on there. I guarantee you'll feel a kick then !!

Mines still running standard boost, and it feels fast - especially now its been serviced. Minimal mods with filter and exhaust, but when you put your foot down theres a definate kick up the **** from the turbo.

Mines set up to run 1.1 bar but I only ever run that if some **** in a beemer thinks he has a fast car. Rest of the time I run 0.5 bar and it still feels like you get a kick up the ass and thats BELOW standard boost.
