How do I remove this pipe?

I'm about to hand in my block for machining, but I can't get this pipe off. How do you remove it? Or should I just leave it in?

I started banging on the little pipe with a rubber hammer, thinking I'd twist it out. I realised that the pipe was bending, not rotating, so I just quit. I'll leave it and feel good about it then!
