Im putting my new engine together. Using Arias pistons. They came with rings but no papers explaining ring preparation and installation..
Emailed Arias and Atomic speedware several times but no answer
Was hoping someone on here could help me.. One ring is black with "N" stamped on one side. The other is steel with no markings.
Need to know whats top ring and whats 2nd ring??
Do I install with the "N" pointing up??
Arias recommends the following ring end gaps:
Top ring: .018-.020”
Second ring: .012-.014”
Oil ring: .020” minimum on rails.
But others recommend to gap the 2nd ring bigger than top ring. Has to do with compressed gasses being caught between the rings. A bigger 2nd gap will allways allow the gasses to escape..
Do I follow this theori or as Arias recommends :?:
Please speak up
