Help, the madness is happening again...

:x Right! That's it! After seeing a few of you guys R's down at Southport on Bank holiday Monday running 16's, i've decided i've definately gotta have original wheels cos i can't live with my 17s any more. I hate the bleedin things. Small wheels really work for me- i think they just make the car look so much chunkier and meaner. erm, just need a little help from y'all first...

See, my Wilwoods won't fit under standard wheels and i don't want to sacrifice brake performance. so what i'm after is ???? Something like Brembo callipers on a standard disc (or preferably a nice aftermarket one) that will fit under the standard alloys?

If somebodys got some decent brakes that they wanna swap or has ideas about how i could work this out, please reply i can't ride round feeling like a boy racer any more!

pictures of the offending wheels and callipers are under little ghost's R in the members car's section.

Thanks

You'll be lucky to get anything decent under the standard 14" wheels

Go for 15's, then you should be able to get 285mm discs and 4 pots under them

 A**E! I know, you're probably right, but i just love the standard wheels. Saw an Escort Cossie at Southport too- standard wheels, and i just though, that looks the NUTS just as the designer intended-you catch my drift?

gotta be a way gotta be...

Sticking 4 pots on ickle OE disc will probably wear them and your pads out very quickly as they'll get a lot hotter than normal.
What size discs do you have on now?You may be able to get them under 15's/16's.

 Sorry i've not replied for ages, think my pc stopped watching the topic cos it got bored or summat.

Anyhoo- i haven't actually measured my disks mate, but i'm pretty sure now that 16s will go easy and i might be able to get a fag paper between 15s and callipers.

Think i'm gonna be scratchin my bonce for a long time over this...

It's the size as well as the colour and design thats the problem Paz... Anyhoo the latest developement is that i've found some Superlites that look almost like standard wheels. Still thinking... :?:

go for some nice 16s or 15s...dont go back to the tin wheels!!!

Balls to it- Got some Speedline Comp 2s 16s in silver- "Yes, that'll do" (In a Mr Burns stylee) i crumbled, you were all right i was wrong, etc, eating humble pie as i speak...

bluudy nice rims, and i'm bluudy chuffed.

 giz a chance, they only arrive on Thursday, if i'm lucky. If i'm unlucky they'll get lost at some depot in outer Mongolia

I'll get some snaps up as soon as i can though provided they actually fit over my brakes too- that's another thing- i only have the shop's say to go on...
