just bought new crank oil seals pully end
when I removed the old one there was a very thin metal type washer / ring behind seal which is slightly bent
I asked Nissan if they do them and they don't list anything

also when putting new seal in do I chap it in as far back as it goes or just flush with pump housing

You only knock it back so its flush with the cover put some loctite round the outer edge of the seal if you have some to hold it to the oil pump casing

Can you straighten out the shim just by hammering it? Then clean up any misshape?
