technically yes it is worth it, but dont use it on tubular manifolds, the idea of it is to keep the heat into the parts your wrapping, which can have knock on effects on stainless mani's as it accelerates the cracking, cast manifolds and down pipes are worth it, dont put it on intercooler pipes. you can get proper jackets made of the stuff for turbos.pete-r said:is this heat wrap a worthwhile mod? and where should i be looking at putting it?manifold/intercooler pipework/turbo?

i wrapped my stainless manifold and it got so hot the wrap turned like glass, and started cracking and falling off, the manifold was absolutely sound when i got it even tho it was second hand, i believe if it hadnt been wrapped it would be fine today rather than in the binNad said:Its just a case of reading and making ur mind up. A lot of the issues they are on about are with non factory manifolds, ie non cast iron ones. If u can afford the coating take that route but I still think I will be wrapping mine. That or a heatshield is a good idea on SS, allows the air to circulate around.

Yeah the main issue is hot spots forming.
