hi mate pearsonally i find it easier to drop the engine and box out but you can do it in situ.
what mods/power you running?
if its less than 300 then you can get a decent head gasket set from ebay. i used one when i rebuilt mine and have had no probs.

leave the engine in m8 the hard bit is getting the inlet off
