GTI-R's

im an owner on a 360bhp stripped out black series 1 that i've done a rediculous amount of work to

but even before i built the car i've always absolutly LOVED pulsars!

and everyday i want one more, sometimes im thinking why am i messing about with a hooge power FWD car?

but my car is very fast in a straight line.

so basically what i want to know is if i got rid of my car for a pulsar i would need a very quick one, maybe 350-400 brake. how would i go about doing this.
whats the favorite method that people on the site use to make this power?

any other advice on weaknesses ect would be great.

thanks

I'd say keep you're own motor mate, it sounds like you've put a lot of time and effort into making it something special, Pulsar's are old cars now and most are pretty ropey and badly maintained in my opinion, It would cost you a small fortune to get one up to the same sort of condition that you have with you're current motor...

Are you the same guy that posted on Scoobynet about being disappointed with the straightline speed of the P1? Not Trolling are you?:p

http://bbs.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-general-1/552615-p1-scoobys.html

What stats do you have for your car? 0-60, 0-100, 1/4, weight etc

I'd be tempted to keep your car unless it's very unreliable, but then there's no guarentee you wouldn't have the same problem with a Gtir (some have, most haven't)

Quick easy way to get the power you want is a 3071;-) (try one on your RS if you haven't got one one already)

If you had 350-400 in a Gtir it should be running low 3s to 60 aroung 8-9 to 100 and 1/4s in the mid to high 11s

I'm surprised they still use T4s in this day and age. I thought newer turbos were harder, longer, faster.:p

Is it just the block or the whole engine? Or is it a ZVH?

And a Series 1 is bang up to date of course  ;)

The difference being and the point I was trying to make dumbass, Was that this lad had spent shed loads of money on his car, which I'd of thought means that its in very good condition, Opposed to a 12-15 year old pulsar worth about 4k at most.......

And he's have to start all over again and spend loads more money, And most of the pulsar's I've seen of late are just rubbish  , Being badly maintained even though the owners seem to think they've done a good job on them :der: .

Yeah but Rob, maybe this guys S1 was a shed before he got his hands on it and spent a load of cash doing it up, maybe he fancies the same task with a Pulsar now? Just a thought, no doubt wrong:lol:

Ooh! :fight2:

Lots of people have spent shed-loads on their cars, Pulsars, S1s, fucking Novas, etc, etc. What's the difference? You're just as likely to see a shitheap S1 that someon's spunked a load of cash on as you are a Pulsar.

And, may I remind you, S1s are considerably older than our favourite pocket rockets too.

Dumbass :D

Yes I agree, But having spent all his money on his S1, I'm just trying to point out that it would probably take that and a 5hit load more cash to get a pulsar into the same sort of condition.....

And is it really worth it, If I knew then what I know now then I'd of kept my Skyline or bought and evo...

Yeah but same argument again Rob, was it really worth him spunking at least 15k on what is an old shitty S1 Escort RS?

No it wasn't, as is me spending 40k plus on a 12 year old datsun  , But having spent it and ended up with a very nice car I'd of thought 8) , Would it be wise to sell up and start again with a Pulsar ?, In my opinion it wouldn't  .

I'm just passing on my opinion, Weather he takes anything I say on board is up to him, Don't shoot the messenger   .....

But in your eyes Rob that 40k may just be a little more justified on the 12yr old Datsun than in anybody else's eyes, but me personally id be the same as yourself.

Id agree tho that this guy should maybe have a longer think before going down the route of seriously tuning a GTi-R as when they break(which we all know happens quite often) then they can become very costly to repair and then maintain, and then his 15k receipt for his S1 would seem like a very small amount in comparison:lol:

yes it was me that posted on the scooby forum..

and noway am i trolling, i really like pulsars

i hate sitting on the line against a 4wd motor and knowing im going to get spanked, even though my cars better when rolling..

i've always thought pulsars were very good cars for launching ect..

why wouldnt you advise me getting one?

They are very good cars mate, And yes not much leaves the line like a well set and tuned Pulsar 8) , But and it's a big but you will need to spend a lot of dosh on uprated gear sets and good quality clutches to be able to keep doing these launches over and over again  .....

For instance a quaife gear set will cost you between £2000-£3000 to buy and fit depending on the condition of your own box, And a PPG gearset will be even more, Clutch could cost you up to a £1000 for a good quality twin plate, Then you'd need all the poly bushes and other stuff that makes them handle well, You could if you're very lucky pick up an already well looked after and modded one, but these are few and far between if you ask me  .

I'm not really trying to put you off, Just do you want to really sell the car you've spent all that time and money on getting up to its current spec/condition, Only to start on another car from scratch, I'm pretty sure if you buy a standard ish Pulsar you will be disappointed, Plus 95% of owner's don't really know how to really maintain one in tip top condition in my opinion, I've seen some supposdly well looked after car's and not been overly impressed   .....

But if you really want one and are prepared for the big fuel/insurance bills don't let me put you off fella, Just go into it with you're eye's open and you will be fine ;-) .

Rob

see all that above i've already done with mine. its running 700cc injectors ect..

if i was going to buy one it would be a very heavily modified version already.

can you recommend any?

Rob makes some good points here. Often pulsars I see have loads of hidden history and are frequently very played with. Alot of this has to be put right before any real work can begin.

Occasionally you will come across a bargin. For the money people spend on pulsars they, like many other cars really dont have much value when it comes to sell. Best bet is to keep an eye on the for sale and see what appears.
