Hi guys ,

First post be gentle (lol:lol: ) after spending a lot of time deciding on what i should go for im still no closer. After owning a clio williams on throttle bodies .a saxo vts supercharged (dont laugh)and series 1 rs turbo and lots of others in between i need to go in the 300bhp=+ category in other words become a man.at the tender age of 27 and with full no claims i have a better chance of REASONABLE insurance?

proforma quotes are pulsar 1200 comprehensive
cosworth 1900 comprehensive
mk 1 golf gti 900 comprehensive

I have always been a great fan of the pulsar besides my mates havin no fookin idea sayin there crap this they cost you a fortune which i know of the upbringing but pound for buck you just cant say jack there mega car for the dough .I went to the rally of great britain a few years back in my mates pulsar cooperswest tuned it in manchester and with a full car 4 men and 5 holdalls lets just say we left everything on the way to stages inc. evo delta intergrali p1 subaru vr6 golf and lots more i cant remember, the sound was awesome i said i have to own one of these

On the otherhand sorry but im also a fan of the blue oval especially cosworths of which i have been in several and was well impressed especially with the cost of tuning these babies up .Without blowing the blue oval trumpet too much:doh: i am havin a massive dilema:der:

I could do with your HELP!;-)

I know quite a lot of general knowledge on all from honda to cosowrth ,german to nissan as i live breathe fast cars and tuning companies as all of you probably do .

This site also is well ace for readin threads especially the top speeds and races sections and it is amazin what these cars are capable of.

I will be spending around 6000-7000 for a car and will hope to have a lot of trick bits i.e controllers, clutch, brakes ,turbo ,suspension and the usual with the car if im lucky!:p

Its so hard to make my final decision but whatever i decide i will be heading for making it a serious weapon!

I also live 10 miles from R.C developments so was hopin to let them work on my car as a nd when needed .

I know i have to make the final decision myself but your thoughts and views might help me see the light!

Dont mean to waffle you guys been in the same position but god tells me pulsars are a must and i do NOT like doubting OUR FATHER:scared:

kind regards in advance

Dave

think you'll find a lot of ford old timers on here mate :) with that kind of money you should be able to go out and buy an R thats had £20k chucked at it - either that or find a good one for £4k and do it up your own way. most of us are car fans on here and petrolheads to boot, so whatever you decide we wont be too disheartened, all i can say is the Gtir won't disappoint.

im sure you will make the right decision

and welcome to the club

First of all id like to say :welcome:

Second of all id like to say how in our fathers name could you ever compare a gtir to either of the other cars mentioned

I could make this post really really long , but im just gonna make it simple , GTIR EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK AND TWICE ON SUNDAYS

most pepole on the site are going to say the gti-r becuase they own one and the same will happen on any club

this is my 2nd gtir as i sold my first to buy a skyline and soon came back to the gtir after about 3months

you put a 600bhp skyline at the side of a 350bhp pulsar and the skyline will lose untill there over 100mph

you cant realy beat them for the money realy

Thanks for all the fast replies guys to regards to bopper posts i live inner city manchester and insurance is scandaless i know but thats life and i live with it mate i have the same old debate with all the insurance companies it gets me nowhere and manchester besides being great for a lot of things its garbage for owning fast pride and joys but havin a reasonable paid job i suffice the agonising rip off they charge!

I really need to get one soon as i hate havin money in my pocket it burns many holes and i really enjoy spending practically it all on my weapon as i love getting the most out of the all ready great machines!

It seems there are a few owners in the northwest so i cant wait to me the gti-r boys or should i say men?

I spent 9k on my saxo body and engine and sold it for 4k but the joys of tuning is second to none and if a GTI-R is my next step forward then i surely will not let the gti-r clan down you will see plenty of me and the car will also see plenty of my hard earned cash period i am feelin like the gap of ownership is a mere footstep away!!!

If you bung ChrisS about £9K you'll have a car that has everything done to it and is only a bigger turbo and a remap away from as much power as you want.

But living in inner Manchester:doh:

welcome mate, i would recommend the gtir being biased, but also looking at it from an objective point of view, you cannot compare many vehicles to the performance for money ratio. aslong as u are prepared to spend money, which it looks like you are, then u will have a great time. and also dont be put off by things breaking. as i have seen 2 new R owners join the forum in the past 4 months who come on guns blazing, 90 questions a day, and 2 months later they are in the for sale section crying about unrealiability. they are old cars and take a considerable ammount of maintenance but believe me, any bad feelings towards the car after paying a bill are soon dispersed when u take it out for a nice drive.
mine has given me some trouble since i bought it in january but im not giving up on it. :)
so yeah, buy the gtir. cosworths are alrite but ive still to meet one that i cant overtake. and golfs....well i dont even bother with them, not even the r32's are worth the petrol.

FAST GUY i like inner manchester to be honest its great for work and nightlife everything is on my doorstep (especially speed cameras)lol

To be honest with you 9000 k for chris car is a tad too much as it means savin more than i currently have no disrespect to the car its amazin spec and worth all them pennies its just everytime you want to buy 1 its always 2k above budget but who knows i am quite unpredictable at times as for GTI-R blowin away cosowrths it depends on both specs of car to be truthful dont want to start a car war off just from my experience and knowledge i have great respect to both vechicles.

I'm on my second pulsar now, the first one put a rod through the block lol (bad set up), But I loved the pulsar so much I sold my other car (An R33 GTS-T Skyline) to buy another better spec'ed pulsar, It cost me £9k And had over 10k already spent on it..... Things like a quaife box (a must have) and AP brakes (another must have lol).

I've had this one for 5 years now and it's never let me down once, I'm now up to 399.6 bhp on the standard engine, So don't let anybody tell you that they are weak, Because thier not if modded properly.

I think i will be letting Clive at RC DEVELOPMENTS work on the car as they use to specialise and still do in pulsars but more evo now anyhow he did all the mapping on my mates 450 bhp subaru and its a animal to say the least. nice and convenient just down the road i can keep my eye on it as welll then.Already got lots of mod ideas from turbo to brakes and suspension hopin to spend that little more and have a few mods done thundergod.

in the last couple of weeks, ive test driven everything and everything, as i sold my GTIR the other week, and in gods honest truth, these cars, ie RX7, GTRs, SX's do not give me the thrill my R did!! The GTIR is a raw little bitch, and i dont think you can buy anything that gets your heart racing like these little bean tins can. ive driven cossies before, and a few scoobies, but feck me sideways, nothing compares to my old R for balls out shityo'self action!!

You would not be dissapointed if you bought a good 300bhp R for 4k!!! let alone 7k!!!
