what are people using on their GT3071
internal w/g and buy an Actuator or external w/g?
would having an external w/g make a whole lot of different when running the gt3071 optimum boost(1.7bar?)?

Hai cheer:thumbsup:

99.9% of them are running it with an internal gate fella, You'd need to change your down pipe and manifold to fit an external gate.

3071 in most cases is fine with internal. Its the 3076 where with internal things start to become a problem and much more power can be made with an external w/g.

I had a wee search for GT3071 turbo.

Here's some bumf from Fusion Motorsports Web Site: http://www.fusion-motorsport.co.uk/component/page,shop.product_details/flypage,shop.flypage/product_id,170/category_id,6/manufacturer_id,0/option,com_virtuemart/Itemid,28/

Garrett 3071R for Pulsar GTi-R

//( Garret )'); //]]>( Garret )
Price per Unit (piece): £995.00

The SR20DET is one of our favourite engines. We know allot about them and some of Fusion Motorsport's history started with them on the GTi-R. We also know what they go like when tuned!
So here we have in our opinion quite simply the best turbo for the GTi-R. The Garrett GT3071R.
This turbo is special, Its as close fit to a direct swap as you will ever get. Its capable of easily in excess of 400 horsepower. You do not need to make special modifications to fit the waste gate actuator – we have that done for you. In fact it does not even need spacing to clear the Pulsars gearbox.
This has been engineered to be as near direct fit as it possibly can. The few alterations you are going to have to make are simply to elongate the holes on the oil return and one stud on the down pipe. You will need to do some minor alterations to boost pipework on the inlet and outlet, but only to a more standard configuration. The other oil and water lines can remain the same. We also offer the option of a ported wastgate on either AR option. We feel that the 0.86A/R does not need this, however the 0.64A/R may in some cases suffer boost creep without the porting.
Initally we expected the 0.64 to be a better choice, however in our early stages of testing, we discovered that the 0.86 is infact a perfect match. Don't worry turbo lag or boost threashold, on a test pulsar we were making 1.7 bar at just a fraction over 3500 rpm, significanly more than a stock turbo could. So for those who like their mid range torque this one is for you. However it didn't end there as it kept going at the top end too. As for response it was almost as if it was connected directly to the throttle, the rollerbearing core is amazing and quite simply not something we had seen before with these cars!
Specifications
Compressor housing:
2 3/4 inch compressor inlet - so it clears the gearbox,
2 inch compressor outlet

Turbine housing
Standard T2 fitments for the GTi-R manifold
Standard 5 bolt outlet for GTi-R spec downpipes (minor mod to one of the stud holes needed, as described)
Choice of 0.64 and 0.86 AR turbine housings.
Core Garrett GT roller bearing.
Options
Ported wastegate.

it aint the best if all you wanted was 300-350bhp nor is it the best if you wanted 500-600bhp, nor is it the best if you only wanted to spend £500-600 on a turbo ;)

im thinking that could've been worded differently
