gettin better but still not right

hi all

after taking all the ignition a part and cleaning it all and put it back together again the car will now rev in first to whatever revs you want (better than the 4000 it was before) however soon as u go into 2nd it does the same thing starts popping and doenst wont to rev over 4000 rpm ? what could it be? is it the timing its set at 20 deg ?

just thought i would update

turns out to be burning water in cylinder 1 next to timing chain bin like it since day one of having the car :( !!!!! my dad drove it for 3 hours got to dover and it started smoking under the bonnet thought it was the alternator giving up turned out to be a head gasket/head prob so car is being dismantled and engine will be send back to england to be repaired/rebuilt what ever it needs!!!

JUST SHOWS buying a car of the streets or from a garage has no difference these days!!!

any way will be back on the road soon

How can it have been like that since day one; I thought you said it was fine until you got to Dover then it all went south. - Sounds like you cooked it on the drive. I had to learn the hard way about taking notice of the gauges on one of my earlier cars. :doh:

so even with an engine that you have cooked (i have seen your previous post's on both forums) your still trying to cure a missfire?? Are you even sure there is water in cyl 1 as if there is water in there that is a pretty serious gasket leak (as in so bad you would have blown the radiator end tanks off by now). Or are you a young man just taking guesses at what could be the cause off a missfire,

before you piss around any further get a cylinder leak down test done by a proper competent mechanic!!!
 
was trying to cure miss fire before finding the water in the 1st cylinder ! which was exactly 3 days ago i found out as i have just left it for almost 4weeks and just putting lost of posts up on the forum to try and get some answers.

its only now ive realized its cooking so its not really my fault.

i will admit im young and i dont know alot about all this stuff im still learning the trade my self as at the moment i am a basic (very basic mechanic doing all the oil changes and tyres and brakes)

i am not some kind of boy racer that cant afford to run it it will get what ever it needs i have only done 1400 miles with it and it has had 4 oil changes with the oil filter i have also changed spark plugs ....... the list goes on!!

the facts are i now know it has some kind of head or headgasket problem so once opened up i will find out whats a matter and what needs changing if the whole engine isnt knackerd :( i bought this car as a show car as there is only about 10 in the whole of france.

It happened to me........ OH NO it didnt i ran my engine in how you was supose to:roll:

going back to this water is it not fuel sat on your pistons:roll: and the "smoke" near the alternater could just turn out to be a split in your rad hose..... and as for it not revving it sound's to me as tho you have boosted the shit out of it and blown a hose off! where are you in france?
 
why the hell do you all think i have boosted the hell out of it when i wasnt even insured on it and it was my dad that was driving it when it started going wrong also how can i boost it when it wont rev higher then 6 and starts popping and banging at 4 so i couldnt care no to be honest what you think i know what happened i was in the car with my dad when it happened.


oh and i live in the limousine not far from limoges what does this have any thing to do with ?

Standard car start's coming on boost at about 3krpm btw ,hence the 3krpm limit to run the car's in nobber:roll:

So what your saying is, if you had of been insured on it then it wouldn't have gone wrong? :lol:

Probably best running it round to a local garage by you, like the others have said on here and let a mechanic take a look at it, if your not yet fully competant at diagnosing the problem, saves damaging the engine even more by revving the bolloxs of it to see if youve solved the problem..

its 3500 rpm by the way on the instructions i had with the car and 4000 rpm with an oil change once it has 500 miles so what have i done wrong ??? nothin as it dont rev over 4 half of the time and som times when it did it would sound like its runing on 3 cylinders!!!!

apart from reving it to 6-7 thousand in neutral when the car had 850 miles on it and was running like a sack of crap and drinking water and a little oil and then not long after i stopped using it and i havent used it for 4 weeks now as the coolant was preassurizing and there was water in 1st cylinder!

how did i trash it when not driving it then ???

also the engine went wrong in eng at dover my dad was driving not me and he didnt take it over 3500 rpm so what you on about???
