Drove the car yestereday for the first time in 4 months and after ten mins or so it developed a whineing noise in second which got worryingly loud :(

Car has been on its roof so is it possible some could have leaked out?
Anyway will change the oil but don't want to waste money if the box is on its way out??

:lol: I hit a curb and rolled on top of a hedge

Anyway yeah it is noticeable in second and a very slight whine in third that has always been there but that sounds more like from the diff

If you hit a curb it could also be a part of your wheel/suspension/brakes etc.

But i'd definatly check all oil & fluid levels first.

You wouldn't notice any abnormal tyre wear this early on but certainly the drag it would produce on the road. Have you had all the wheels aligned again? I'd get this done too, cos even if you curb a wheel it can knock it out of alignment. Maybe put the wheels on a balancer to check if they are buckled too.

Is it a constant whine? does it get faster as the car goes faster?

No the car wasn't badly damaged luckily, just panels on one side and a new bonnet was needed
Alignment getting done tomorrow but to drive the car seems fine, just the noise which i'm sure is the box
The noise does seem to get louder the higher it revs as well.
