Fueling Problem

Hi Guys,

can anyone help please.
My R has this intermittant problem seems to die out totally now and again but getting more lately. can happen on tickover or any speed.

when i stop and turn the engine over, i can sometimes hear the fuel pump buzz up to pressure and the car starts no problem. But other times when i turn the ignition on, i cant hear that usual bzzzz and the car dosent start.

I understand that there is an electrical plug on top of the tank under a metal plate, im going to check this, but have started thinking of fuel relays etc under the bonnet.

as the problem deffinately seems to be electrical supply to the pump.
Any ideas guys.

May be the wiring deteriorating, I lost the earth to my pump. If you search for "fuel pump voltage" you should find a thread explaining how to fit an additional relay to give full alternator voltage to the pump, I would also fit a new earth.
