I got a question for you lot! Just took a front diff out of an R, and its a plated LSD. No markings on it or anything else I can identify it by, I just wondered as I know there will be many people here who have seen more of these than me if its likely to be a nismo?/ no idea / other?

A picture might help.
There's modena, cusco and Nismo to name 3. I don't know which are plated tho.

Real bad pic but i am pretty sure this is a cusco 1-way diff.
If you look in the gtiroz pics its the same as that one so thats what makes me think its cusco?

I would be intrested to see a standard rb lsd front diff as people say some had one as an option, but was it a nismo diff they used or was it a different type?plated or torsion type etc?

I know, it could well be cusco if they did 2 different types but i was going with the box in the pic to confirm the cusco diff?

I would proberly think it is a nismo diff or even an rb diff but like i say i have never seen a pic of an rb lsd which makes me wonder if the nismo and rb lsd front diffs are the same thing?

All the pics above are the only design front diffs i have ever seen for the gtir which is why i think its a nismo diff as i have seen in the past other people with the same diff as you and they was claming it was a nismo diff? But tbh i could be totally wrong!

Those concave plates are diaphram spring's ,the preload of those spring's (and the amount of plate's,oil type etc) dictate's the slip/lock up of a plate type lsd;-).

when you rebuild the diff do you have the spec for setting it up? because if you do it wrong it won't work as intended if at all:roll:
