rock oil does a 5 60 fully sinthetic engine oil, its long life and desighned for b m w m series cars. iwanderd if it might be any good for the r. it costs me 4 quid a litre
5W is too thin by all accounts.
I believe it has a tendency to seep past your turbo oil seals and give you a rattly top end.
Most ppl seem to go with 10W60 (Castrol RS) or 15W50 (Mobil 1 or Silkolene). Heard good reports about Millers too, but I don't know which one.

What he says, 5W/60 is perfect for a high performance NA car like an M5, the Gtir isn't NA though.
