Hello,

I am thinking of purchasing and installing a front mount intercooler.
There are only two reasons why i woudl get a FMIC
1- It looks tha dags nackers
2- It is more efficient than the OEM and will not suffer heat stroke.

However when purhcashing a FMIC what should I look for and what should my considerations be? e.g. oil pressure loss? power capability? pipe diameter? completness of kits? fitting?

Any takers

I've got a front mounted intercooler fitted to my pulsar.
I never fitted it, was on the car when i bought it.
Looks like it would have been a bit of a nightmare to fit, very tight, have to cut away bits of the car e.t.c.
But it comes with a step by step guide to fitting it.
Runs well, no problems, my mate's got a pulsar without the front mount intercooler, he says it doens't run aswell when its hot, obviously because of the heat from the engine.
Everyone i've spoke to say it's well worth doing. just the hassle of fitting it.

where did you get oil pressure loss from? its a new one on me:roll:

you wont gain hardly any power, in some cases you will lose power because of extra lag on your tubby, so youll need to up the boost!

can be awquard to fit, a lot of messing about, cutting, grinding etc. but good points are as you said cooler air, and easier to work on engine as you havent got to keep taking that thing off the top every time you want to get at something.

and yes they do add a menacing stance to the front of your motor.

i've just fitted an fmic on my pulsar, toke a while to fit and had to remove a few things and put them else where, but other than that well worth doin.

But for some reason my boost pressure has gone up and my boost controller is off!!

How far has it gone up? You did re-connect the vacuum pipe from the actuator to the inlet plenum that you have to remove from the top mount didn't you?

yeah everything is reconnected it goes up to about 1.2 bar which is wat my boost controller is set for on high boost, my work college fitted the intercooler but we also had the engine out to replace the transfer box and the clutch.

so while the engine was out it made sense to front mount the intercooler.

any ideas
