First time out and got pulled

First night out in my R, couldn't have been happier, me and my brother have been looking forward to a night out in the R together for 8 months and shock we got pulled, was told that my registration plate at the front was illegal, never got a fine, just got told I need to change it and I have 21 days to get my new plate on and have it stamped by the local MOT centre.

So that leads me to my question, if my car is an import, and I know the rear plate is fine, is there any specifications on the front plate, I got pulled cos my letters are to close together, petty I know, but does this also apply to imported cars as well, a mate of mine thinks not, some clarification on this would be magic, cheers.

funny that not for you tho, can remember years ago in my rs custom, got pulled in it because i had number plates in real writing, so the attitude got out the t5 dinosaur and said in a I'm the dogs boll..s tone ,them plates are illegal,i said hows that like,he said the width of the letters was too narrow,i said whats the minimum the letters can be like t5 boy, he looked at his colleague in a confused state as he didn't have a clue to the minimum required by law, result for once, he then climbed in the t5 skip and done a runner ,use that one in future squire, good look daveyboy,;-)

Bawsack (love the name) I'm from Cumbernauld.

I wasn't blasting it, I was in a que of cars and they spotted me, wasn't even moving, the female officer got out her ruler and measured it, I couldn't believe it, she was gonna fine me £30 but after i told her it had only passed it's mot that morning she let me off with a thing where i have 21 days to change it and get it stamped by my local mot centre.

I just read the DVLA website and the only thing that concerns me is that they don't have any info about spacing beween the groups of letters, so does that mean that it must only be 10mm like the others is, I hope so, cos I love my slightly smaller registration plate fits snug as a bug.

Ricky mate, what a bastard it was, couldn't believe it mate, my brother was about to give them an extensive vocabulary lesson, haha.

There a bunch of useless cunts, they need to go out and sort out real crimes instead of pissing about with rulers measuring ppl's number plates!

A little on the small side, depends who u ask, haha.

SO i checked the DVLA website, and measured my plate this morning, according to it, all my letters are the right size it's just the spacing that is wrong, however it doesn't say anthing about spacing between groups, does this mean that it must be 10mm as well between groups as it is between letters, oh what a pain in the **** this is.
