ELECTRICAL/ENGINE NOISE!!!

I am at my wits end now, I have tried everything to get rid of this noise through my speakers! All of the power leads are supressed all earths are good, I've been to 2 seperate professional audio specialists and none have found the problem???
Just wondered if anyone has had a similar problem with their 'R's?
I've tried everything and am starting to think that it could be my head unit (that would explain everything) its still in garantee and Pioneer are going to help but will not just replace the unit. Thames Car Radio said they tried another unit and it worked fine! But others say that doesn't necessarily mean its the unit? As some are more sensitive than others etc
I've had so much hastle and have been unable to mod my car because of it
The unit is an AVH-P6500DVD, and something just popped one day after being fine since fitting! Any ideas?

Cheers

Did you fit this yourself or was it done professionally?
I guess one of the engines surpressor could be shot?

Yes I fitted it myself but I have fitted lots of head units before and this one was always fine until something went pop! Where can the engine supressors be found? It has been supressed straight from the battery i.e. bypassing the ignition switch live (just to get to the bottom of things) but with no joy  I really need an identical head unit to find out once and for all if its that or not??? I don't expect realistically that that will be possible though if it was I could get straight onto Pioneer for a new one!! :D

P.s Possible wrong section I know, but its a big problem, which happens to be ICE!

I've never looked for supressors on our car but there's normally one on the alternator (capacitor?)

it sounds like something has gone in the unit. Maybe a dry joint on an earthing point or a supressor gone on the power supply. I would let Pioneer look at it and go from there. If you have checked and double checked everything on the car, it's the last port of call. By the way, what HT leads are you using and do you have a set up with amps or is it just the head unit ?
If you have amps, put all the earths into a distribution block, with the earth leads as short as possible, and make the main earth for the system as short as possible to a goodbit of clean metal.
When does the noise occur ?

does the noise appear on both cd and radio and did it only occur after something went pop (what)

Thanks for the replies :)
Yes I do use amps but the sound was always ok before it went ''pop'' and since then they've all been checked and double checked and TCR said that they tried another unit and it was fine! but for some reason until you see it for yourself there is always an element of doubt
I'm not sure of the make of the HT leads but they were fine before. All of the RCA and power lead routing is good as they have all been run outside the car to the amps for testing???
The noise appears on all head unit functions: All radio frequencies, cd, dvd, tv etc and with externals unplugged it still appears?? :?: :?

Fast Guy, as for supressors I have supressed so many things now that I can't sleep without seeing one in my dreams :?
Joking aside, all power leads are supressed, so unless it is absolutely critical that the standard supressors are intact then I'm pretty sure its not that, but who knows.......AAAAARRRHHH!!

Same thing happened to my mates Kenwood, made a horrible noise due to a problem with the stereo, had to get a new one in the end...I also had the same problem with my stereo, had a good earth and still made the noise, moved the earth to the other side of the car -actually used the seat belt anchorage (no back seats!) and it was fine.

Earthed Proffesionally at the seat belt anchorage :? :?:
I'm going to try a different head unit as soon as I can get hold of one but the typical thing is I used to have a few laying around and I had a few friends with spare ones etc but now I need one I can't find one anywhere :x

Just to let you all know that finally I found the problem :D and it turns out that it was the head unit. A fusable earth link had blown! The bad news is all the time and money I've thrown at it  I wonder if Pioneer will compensate me as one of their places told me the head unit was fine and therefore lead me to spend more time and money on the car electrics :?: :?:
Anyway anyone who lives near Northolt with a car stereo problem take it to Northolt Car Stereo Repairs, they really know their stuff and found the problem within minutes, very reasonable and proffesional too
At least Pioneer are covering that cost :D

that's interferance from the power lead to the RCA lead.

Power, speaker and RCA leads should be kept seperate as they casue interferance. Just ask Pete Pulsar LOL :p

all the leads were well away from each other, I had no back seats and was using a false floor so had loads of room, infact the earth cable went towards the back of the car wheras all the others went forward, i just put it down to a bad earth path :?
