hey,

There is a black pulsar in cambridshire near me and he has got it up for sale and claims its got a hks engine and that but has no paperwork, im sure i reackonise this car from somewhere be it on here or ebay just wondered if anyone knew it, would be intrested if it had a hks engine but with out prof it anit worth it??

can anyone help?

yep i know that car as it was sold by us around 2-3 years ago to a turkish guy called tarkan in essex, he then sold it on to another guy who then sold it on again.

its been abused in the past and i would not touch it with a bargepole tbh

I wouldnt have given it a second look tbh, maybe im being a bit critical but it looks more like a £1500 car than a £2500 car.

The battery in the boot looks like an accident waiting to happen and how convenient that he doesn't have the receipts for the engine :roll:

interesting how you judge the car just by looking at it! I bought mine off pistonheads for £3000 and have just spent £1800 getting a MOT for it!! Mine had all the paperwork but tbh looked worse than the one you have mentioned above! You need to go and see it and look it over very carefully. I have to admit that i knew nothing about GTIRs when i bought mine and so was naive to take the advert for real. Needless to say, my GTIR is back on the road but now needs a remap!

Sadly with experience, you can spot a sh**ter without too much trouble, it's usually the wording of the advert to be honest but the pics will always give away some of the biggest problems.

In this case of course the car was not judged by just looking at it but by Bob who knows it's history and knows that's its been abused in the past. I'm always surprised that more people don't post links to potential purchases on here. The Gtir community is fairly small and usually you'll get someone who knows the car or something about it. If you've been following the classifieds as long as me (two years) you'll notice that the same cars crop up again and again, so either the seller keeps changing their mind, or the car's being sold on again because it's got problems, I know which conclusion I'd draw.

thats mint its only going to cost £500 to sorth out rust plus those wheels need scrapping plus the turbo alone is worth 1k as its a t28r good for 500bhp:roll::lol::lol::lol:

ITs got awful bodywork to be fair inside awful wheels Anit good gear box rubbish but the engine
Sounds sweet whats werid he dropped straight to 1900 with out trying lol

I learned this the hard way. I took an 8 hr round trip to look at a fully rebuilt Norris Designs effort about 8-9 years ago, it looked amazing from the pictures, but the pictures must have been taken the day the guy got it himself, when I got down there it was a piece of ..... and still to this day one of the worst R's I've ever seen.What a wasted trip.

Research as much as you can. Go and look at loads of them, as many as you can. That way you will be able to spot a fine example a lot easier. When I bought mine, I really was just going to look at the car with no intention of buying it, but when I saw it, I knew it was a great example and would struggle to find another one that was as good as this one, so I took it.

If you want a good one, Vss is selling one.

did you buy it then?

the turkish guy we sold it too bought those wheels new and we fitted them lol think they are wolf rims.
even my mrs hated them, one of the worst sets of wheels ive ever had the pleasure of looking at and there heavyweights too

Its funny how different people see cars though. Myself i dont tend to worry about cosmetic things much and worry more about the mechanicals. For example mine would probably look like a shitter to anyone i was going to sell it to but i have spent a lot on suspension and running gear renewing everything. I did think about selling it recently but decided against because to anyone else i suppose it would look like a £1500 shitter when I've probably spent that amount on suspension and other oily bits!

I had to have the sills all redone (£600 including welding) when the car was originally advertising as being "painted with underseal to stop the rust" There was nothing there to rust! it was more likely done to hide the holes!
On the bright side, i now know whats been done and know it will last for some time and therefore payback as i use it as my everyday.

i would worry about body work if car is rotten no point having good engine,keep looking there is good ones about.

what a load of shit, good mechanicals are the first thing you look for, almost anything from sills, chassis rails, arches etc etc

can be sorted in time.

these cars are feckin 20 years old so 75% of them suffer especially as most havent been undersealed regularly.

i dont understand why you bother coming on this forum?

all you do is slate the cars and give advice that has no benefit to gtir owners.

Personally Im glad I chose the way I have with it. My car feels 200 times better on the road than it did before I changed all the stuff (thanks VSS). I stone chip underneath in the summer and its had no torching done yet. I do know however there are 2 places that need sorting but I ve dug them out and treated them and will do them while its off the road.

When i read adverts i always look at how they are written. Also when people put things like "oh been quoted 50 quid to get it done, which is why the price is reduced" Why not do it then sell the car with out the fault. When they start using words and phrases like "innit, top out at 150,beats Ferrari's, its 400bhp not been rolling roaded, oh i have miss placed the receipt" then i really do just hit the back button lol
