as a warning to others!
do not wrap a tow rope around the front cross member/beams etc otherwise this happens!!!

only use the official towing eye! or I believe there is a way to wrap a hook/cable around a wishbone?
anyway the result was the bonnet had a 2 inch gap between it and the headlights when the bonnet was closed. the cross member/beam thingys were about 8 inches too far forward on the drivers side. A decent chunk of metal was separated from the chassis/main frame of the car and the metal work that the horns and radiator are connected to were misshapen...
blessing in disguise though because the shell was rotten bad in the arches and sills and one suspension turret, only a short time before MOT fail i reckon :?
