DIY rust repairs...

Rust, what a fu*ker.

Over the winter a couple of tiny patches have made an appearance on my R. Either ends of the arch and on the rear boot panel seams. At the moment barely even the size of a 5p coin, so almost not noticeable.

Question is, whats the best course of action? Do I go the Halfords route and buy some kind of magical rust killer, what have people used before that works well?

Can I then sand it out and locally touch it in with a spray can, or is it too hard to do well ?

Cheers, toby

The best option is to cut it out and re-weld in a new bit of metal.

If you don't want to go down that road, you then have to sand down the part, rust treat it, primer - smooth, spray - smooth then laquar and smooth down.

Its early stages so its only tiny bits at the moment, what sort of rust treatments work well?

There are so many of em that claim this and that magical cure, turns rust to stainless steel type stupidity.
