Carbon Fibre Propshaft...gauging interest!

i have been in contact with a company who specialise in carbon fibre composite prop shafts. They currently list them for skyline, supra, rx7, s2000, evo, impreza, 200sx. They dont at present list one for the pulsar but are prepared to fabricate one.

Th down side to this is the fact that it would have to be a one off and would cost £2000!!! However, after speaking to them for about an hour, they are prepared to fabricate and produce the shaft if there is going to be a market for one!! This could slash the price down to the £800-£1000 mark!! Now im not dissilusioned, it is a lot of money and wouldnt be asking for definate answers at this stage! If i could get rough idea on numbers then i can approach the company and see what kind of deal they will come up with.

They are sending me some information in the post and as soon as i recieve it will let you know specs, etc What i do know however, is that the shaft would be approximate 60% lighter and would be able to cope with ridiculous torque and power levels.

As i say tho, this is in teh very early stages and im purely interested in gauging a rough number of people so i can get a few prices and relay back to you.

cheers

I did read about a company in one of the tuning mags last month, And was thinking about them myself lol.

But I've far better things to spend my money on in the next year or two, They have to come right down in price I think to maybe the £500-£600 range.

Was it this company?

http://www.torqline.com/

I emailed them about 2 weks ago and gont told "one off £2-2500ish" etc

Steve Ferguson in Newcastle has one fitted to his race car, but I think it has a metal front section to cope with the heat from the exhaust. It might be worth asking who made his.

I want one as it's another good weight saving and most people who fit them report an increase in acceleration from this alone.

Here is a link to a thread about Steve's prop shaft. There is a couple of pics too.
