Car revs by itself?

When starting from cold the car has started to rev by itself.
It sits at 2k for a few minutes then it falls and drops between 1.5 and 2k continuously for about 5-10 mins?? :?
When warmed up it seems to sort itself out and idles perfectly just under 1k, any ideas?

Yea bit of a weird one, seriously pissing me off as when i'm sitting in traffic it sounds like i keep revving the damn thing
Plus now it does it slightly when warm also
Will do an ECU check i think

you,ll find that it cold start fast idle it should rev 1.5k when cold then drop back down to 1k whcih is normal you can try adjusting the fast idle screw but if it not serious don,t bother!!

Some R's do it,it's hunting and can be caused by an air leak.Spray water(not gallons!) with a demister round the engine bay while it's running and watch for it getting sucked in anywhere.Check all vacuum hoses and induction pipe for leaks.
