Can the oem boost solenoid "fail"?

A friend of mine blew his engine a while ago, and claims that the standard boost solenoid failed and let the engine run unlimited boost?

Personally I think he was being a retard and upped the boost too much without the needed supporting mods.

Yes it could, but I don't think that this would cause it to run unlimited boost!

Although someone will correct me if I'm wrong!

Plus if it did he should have noticed this and stopped ragging the tits off of it!! :lol:

When mine was running unlimited boost the the pipe from the manifold was blocked off and the actuator pipe had abolt screwed in to it .Bypasing the solenoid.

Some people forget to put the restrictor back into one of the hoses which can cause this.. I forget which pipe but someone on here will know...

the car will automatically shut down and wont let u run unlimeted boost as i fond out wen someone left my actuator pipe off!!

it will run unlimited boost for a while then go in safe mode, turn off the iginition for 5 secs and will runn again for a little while if ur pistons dont blow lol

Anything mechanical can fail. everything and anything is possible.

Although sounds more like someone being a retard upping the boost.
