BOV Noise - Sticking?

I have a Bee Racing dump valve which has seen better days
Was revving the car from under the bonnet before and noticed the dumping noise was coming from the air filter rather than the dump valve
and noticed the piston wasnt moving very freely in the bov only opened a tiny gap every now and again and then only just closed

Is it normal for the dump noise to come from the air filter? Or is it the air being forced back through the turbo and out the air filter? :shock:

I'm installing a HKS SSQV tomorrow anyway was just wondering

It all depends on the strength of the BOV spring as to whether it dumps. The spring may no longer be free and so stuck closed i.e. not dumping. I also get a bit of flutter from the filter but its no where near the same scale as a BOV. If the flutter from the filter is louder than the BOV i would probably worry about the pressure being forced back through the turbo.

P.s. HKS SSQV is the way to go mate, sounds 8) (thats on standard boost to):-D

It is fecked Jim, but the engine still runs lol just my gearbox is knackered
Bin doing all sorts while its been off the road
HKS SSQV will be going on tonight

Jim got a gearbox and its gettin fitted by hiteq on tuesday so should be back on the road midweek :D :D :D

Hopefully it will sound 8)

PMSL! harsh but true:lol: i did mention you wont make proper boost whilst in neutral:roll: i bet your neighbors love you lol.

i followed Mattygtir to eastbourne the other week and he reckoned he couldn' t hear his own car(gtr) over the ssqv at 1.3bar (bit more flow than a t28 though) and my janspeed8) 1.8bar is really bloody loud!:-D :-D :-D

im gonna buy a recirc kit for it soon.
