Does the boost source for the actuator need to come from the plenum, could i take it from the turbo up pipe?

If you mean the pipe that comes off the turbo then yes you can do that!

Don't most of the electronic boost controllers recommend that? I'm pretty sure my EVC III suggests tapping the boost line as close to the turbo as possible to give the best response from the unit (I guess that's also a significantly shorter pipe run too).

Good question. Does the Boost controller vacuum source need to be close to the turbo or the boost soleniod ?
