Belt problem

Very loud annoying squealing noise coming from the belt on the alternator. Only happens when cold, and then when it warms up is fine. Is this the air con belt?? Is it likely to go pop any time soon?? Is it causing more damage driving it as it is??

Change the belt. May as well change both of them whilst ur at it.

They only cost a few quid and it's a simple job.

Probably best to put a new belt on, but you could try adjusting it first.
Also if it's the alternator belt, just keep an ear out for the alternator bearing failing :?

Same thing happened to mine just before the alternator packed up  :? Got a squeeling from the belt first of all then the dreaded sounds of a collapsed bearing from the top of the engine, but thankfully it wasn't as bad as first thought and one new alternator later all was well again 8)
