bar on top of alternator

was driving home about ten minutes ago along motorway loudish bang. antilock brake light kept flashing along with the battery light.looked under bonnet and just above alternator their is a metal bar that locks to it somehow any ideas if you can order this as bottom nut piece snapped off cheers

are you talking about the alternator adjustment bracket or the long bolt that goes through which holds the alternator body in place?

probably both bob, sounds like you need the long bolt and tensioner/nut the main bracket it bolts through should be ok, cant see how that could be damaged unless it came loose.

the long bolt that goes through the alternator do have a habit of coming loose, working there way out then hitting the alt drive belt then snapping it (as jim cambellju found out on the track last year lol).
cant really see how the tensioner assembly can fall off, but anything is possible i suppose!
