should have also mentioned, I've found the ECU and where the Apexi plumbs into the harness. Removed this (couple of wires without an obvious home though, currently unconnected). Still wont start, so need expert help...................

Have you joined the maf signal wire to the ecu back together again?

When you fit these units that wire gets cut and joined to 2 different wires on the afc, when you remove it you need to join it back together else the ecu won't get a signal from the maf.

Not sure, how would I recognise the maf signal wire ? all of the wires from the AFC were just pieced into existing wires between the two blue connecting blocks but there was one wire which was connected from the AFC into an ECU wire but it didnt then continue into the ECU itself (i.e. it started from the first blue connecting block, was connected to the AFC but then didnt continue to the second blue connecting block and into the ECU. In addition, there was a wire which came out of the ECU (the connecting block which goes into the ECU) but then only went into the AFC (i.e. didnt continue into the other connecting block. I connected these but it didnt solve the problem.

I think you might be on to something here though - has anyone got their car partially stripped at the moment who can tell me which wire is the maf wire - i.e. where does it come out of the first connecting block (top row, third along etc) and where it goes into the second connecting block/ECU. Also, what's that toggle switch for on the back of the ECU (next to the red light) ?

I've got someone who I use for auto-electrics who's pretty good - should this be within the expertise of an average auto-sparky or is it a specialist job ?

Cheers for your help.

Its Crazy you have attepted this without the ECU Diagram
(wrongly) thought it would have just been a case of removing the Apexi wires from the harness.........the devil makes work for idle hands... you live and learn (sometimes !)

following the thread the other week, bought a CS....not a bad motor although a country mile off the Pulsar performance-wise.

Just make sure if you can use a solder and not use the crap ScotchLoks..
Don't try to take any bolts off the Cs as i can confidently say that will snap off.. nice cars but like most have there faults,

the 'spare' wires were the maf after all, just need to get these soldered together - cheers again for your advice.....
