Anyone had Tein SS Revalved

I've got my Teins on the softest setting all round and its till too hard. Its ok on perfect roads but on bumpy ones it bounces you abou too much.I've searhced and people say its not the springing(which is actually too soft) but the damper rates.I've checked Tein UK and they say they have a revalving service so can either rebuild or respec the damper.
The problem is, I wouldn't know what to tell them to set it at.At the moment it has 16 settings, but it feels like it needs another 20-30 to get soft enough but I don't know if the damping is based on diminishing returns eg after say number 10 the altering makes less and less difference so I'd just be guessing at what to have them rebuilt at.

Has anyone had this done and if so, what did you tell them to be rebuilt too?

I've dropped the tyre pressures to 32/30 and am going to test it again now. They had been inflated a bit high with the new tyres on so hoping this makes it a bit softer.

That suspension is at the bottom of the spec of Tein, and is supposed to be the most road-focused of all, apart from the basic setup. If it's stil too hard maybe you should go for a regular strut and spring setup. Most of the times they are better all-round than coilover setups.

They have more than 16 clicks, but only the last 16 are supposed to be used.
I ran mine on what i thought was the softest setting (turned fully anti-clockwise) until i read the manual, which says doing this will damage the damper.
I now run them 16 clicks back from the hardest setting and they seem slightly more manageable.

I have the EDFC so its done via the stepper motors.I thought this was supposed to give 32 settings rather than 16 though but seems not to be the case.

Turu I don't want to go therough the hassle of getting new units. These are brand new so would rather modify what I have than waste more money buying new stuff again.

Thanks Red, I checked the online nanual and found out how to do it but unfortunately its still the same damping range, just in twice as many increments. Is there anything else I can do in the short term to soften it up, its still too hard even with lower tyre pressures.

It's nothing to do with the spring rates,it's the damping shim stacks. the jap's for some reason use soft springs and rock hard damping to stop the pitch/yaw. the car then can't hold it's own weight on the springs so to stiffen it up you harden the damping more and it just makes matter's worse

It's the compression damping that's too hard....if that was softer they would work much better.

Well I bought them from new and they onlyhave a few hundred miles on them so they aren't going anywhere near Mr. Biffa yet.Would raising the car help a little with the springs? It too low anyway so its on the to do list.

I had exchanged a few emails with Tein UK and they gave me a few suggestions to try before spending any money. One of them was to raise the ride height as if its too high or too low it can cause handling problems.

I've raised it up so that its around 335mm form the centre of the wheel hub nut to the top of the wheel arch all round. It took 2 goes at guesstimating to get the front wheels to be level as the gearbox throws out the weight distribution so even though the spring seat locks were at identical heights, the extra weight was making the gearbox side approx 10mm lower.

Anyway, I have been for a drive on mixed roads and it does feel a bit softer, but the camber etc are way out now and it handles like shit.I am going to raise it a bit more and see how much that helps, if its soft enough for bumpy roads I'll get the geometry and corner weighting done at Scoobyclinic as they quoted me £150 and are local to me.
