400bhp graveyard?

After the dismal number of R's at events and signed up for the club trackday: Does reaching 400bhp mean you can't use your R anymore???

This is just a bit of fun, but I got an idea about working out what bhp is most reliable for an R.

What's the 'days on the road per horsepower' (dor/bhp) rate per year for your R :-D .

Each work it out and post (along with any other nonsense). E.g. mine has run 365days with 280bhp :faint: giving 365/280 dor/bhp. 365 divided by 280 gives me 1.304 .

If I had same bhp, but it only ran half the year I get 182days/280bhp which is 0.65, so you could say that the higher the coefficient, the more reliable the R (???).

If you stick all your days per year/bhp down we can get an idea of the best bhp for most usable days (basically reliability vs bhp).

If your bhp changed drastically in the year, then just say how long the car was at that bhp and during that time how many days use you got (can then project it for the year).

All complete bollocks, but might help me decide which turbo....

Mines probably the same as yours (although I've not had it on the rollers yet) as, it get's used everyday of the week. I think I clocked up near 1000 miles last week alone in it. That wasn't the 'norm' though, it's usually quite a bit less than that !

365/290 = 1.259

Do about 15 - 20K miles / year.

Nothing but service items required so far in 3 years. Coming up for rebuild and new tubby now though.

only had the car 212 days! Lost around 20 days for forged rebuild.

190/330 = 0.575

If I have no probs for rest of year it will be.....

345/330 - 1.045

(330 BHP at 1.4 bar) on Garett T28

has it not crossed your mind that the majority of cars are 1 bloody bar mong wagons and the rest are an easily acheived but safe mid 300's ?

there aren't actually that many gtirs worth entering into any events

I didn't mean drag/power events, I mean just turning up at the odd club event like JAE and trackdays and stuff.

if all the 1bar mongs and easy 330's turned up we'd have loadsa people, but it doesn't happen.

there is quite a jump in spec going from 330ish to 400bhp, just thought it might be useful if we saw whether getting to 400bhp means 6 months of having the car on stands or at tuners/garages?

yeah, you're probably right. I don't go to many shows, not that really into showy cars, but trackdays and stuff is a shame more people haven't rolled up.

I don't think having lots of power stops people going to events.I have a big spec 'R' and was the only one at the last couple of events in scotland.
Unfortunately the people who drive 'R's don't seam to socialise much but this may down to petrol prices. Not too many folk think using £30 of fuel is worth a couple of hours chat.
You don't get cold sitting on your backside typing and it doesn't cost much either:rain:
