Shit in the bell housing

Hi Guys

Inspecting my gearbox today there is a lot of oilly shitty stuff inside the bellhousing. It looks wrong to me anybody seen this before?IMAG0978.jpg

Does it smell like engine or gearbox oil? Rear crankshaft oil seal or gearbox are about the only two places to leak into there.

Looks like a leak from the clutch slave from the oil trail, if its gearbox oil just sniff it as it stinks

Thought it could be slave cylinder but was not sure. Better degrease the inside before it goes back on!

That was my thought too. - It's been mixing with all the fibres and dust from the clutch and makes a nasty sticky mess.that won't drain out of the bottom.

Strangely enough, that's why mine came out. - It was slipping from the leaking clutch fluid, which then destroyed the friction material... which then got wedged in the cover plate so the clutch wouldn't release:


Clearly I've had a go a degreasing this before reinstalling it:

That must be what it is. It used to slip randomly just cruising along then be fine again. My clutch is still one piece though
