Swopping jap spec speedo to converted speedo (whole unit)

will it just plug straight in & work..ie read the correct speed?

ok, i need a new unit
my dials go to 112 (the car has been de-restricted though)
i have the opertunity to buy a 180mph converted one
& was just going to swap them & plug the new one straight in.
:?
will plugging a 180mph converted set just work, straight off?
or is there some gizmo hidden in the ecu/de-restrictor or dash loom
that needs to be calibrated or something?
any help appreciated

The clocks should work straight off, but I'm not sure how they'll read as there's a little gizmo to delimit/convert normally. The little gizmo is normally on the back of (or very near to) the rear of the speedo and involves a little wire modifying.

The converter is normally connected to the back of the speedo unit (there are 4 big screws on it, 2 are usually used for the connection). If the converter is still on the new speedo, it'll go straight in.
