Can any one tell me which cable needs to be re -earthed as there are two plugs on top off the fuel tank lid and both have earths? which plug goes to the fuel pump? im not sure which one and i dont wanna open the tank coz its a right pain to do. Also what voltage should i get at the fuel pump? cheers nis.

The two pin/wire plug is the one for the fuel pump.
You should see around 12 to 13.5 volts at the pump but this usually decreases with age as the resistance in the wire increases. My fuel pump only had just over 11v when I tested it, which I got up to nearly 12.5v with an extra earth and feed wire from the fuel pump relay.

I am sure this is my problem with what feels like a fuel problem.
I upgrades to a walbro, and my car is running just 11.7v to the pump.
Might I suggest that this http://forum.gtiroc.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=30181&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 thread be put in the "how to" section.
Something like " How To Rewire Walbro Fuel pump to 13.5v"
Could make searchs easier.

I wired a changeover relay in to my wiring and i now have 13.8 volts at the pump, best be safe than sorry 8)
