Mint Shell, Any Left Out There?

Ive just found out today after my car went in for a respray thats its pretty rotten underneath with the sills really being bad and one of the chassis rails being bent and having holes in. Shame really as ive slowly built this car up over the last couple of years and have probaly spent about 20k on it :cry:

Does anyone have a mint shell for sale? Its gotta be really mint to tempt me to re shell it or i think il probaly end up stripping the car and moving on.

Is that Red insane your talking about?
Just repair it underneath, don't kill her, alot of money was put into her beforehand as well.
Might cost you a bit to get it cut out and re welded.
Just do it.

you can buy 5 door sills that can easily be used and chassis rails are only £80ish from nissan mate,

be daft to reshell if its just some welding. our white car is having sill and arches done at the moment ready for a respray next week before jts.

If you've spent that i would repair it mate, where do you live as there a old gtir owner who owns his own bodyshop and he is great at all things welding etc and he's very resonable in price.

Not a big deal new sills any decent welder will do a good job.I certainly wouldn't be swapping shell unless it was serously fecked. Chances are that a new shell will prob just be the same in a few years.

Im not sure what im going to do with it now to be honest, i was told it would need new sills, new inner sills?, the chassis rails and also the rear inner arches where it joins up about half way?.

Martyn any idea on some links where i could get the sills? Im guessing Nissan will have the rails on back order so il probaly be waiting for a while for them aswel...

why?

with new steel in there it will be stronger than original, and if its done properly itll last another 20 years

look at all the mk1 and mk2 escort shells that are rescued, and most of those are further gone than a gtir

Agree with the above, I just took out my carpet to fit roll cage and some of the floor was in a pretty bad way so welded metal plates to floor making it proberly alot stronger than it was when it came out the factory.

Anyone know the part numbers for the chassis rails? Been to nissan today and there not to sure which ones they are in the diagram they've given me.
