compression ratio

am getting my R this weekend and the owner has had a 2mm hks head gasket to the car.
it is running 1 bar with hyrbid turbo , fuel pump etc.

I thought 2mm might be a bit excessive and make it a bit undriveable but all seems fine to me.
nice touch if you ask me as still running on std internals and I guess it makes the car safer.

any thoguths or comments? maybe an ECU and cams would make her drive better?

cheers,
Nick

certainly is excessive.are you sure it hasn`t been running more boost than the 1 bar it`s set for now :?:

i`ve got a 2mm head gasket but with an extensive spec to go with it.a 2mm h/gasket on a basically std car would make me VERY suspicious

you now have a 8.0:1 or an 8.05:1 compression ratio

Run all the boost you can just remember Shell has you by the danglies

I am not suspicious of the car at all as it is knwn by a few tuners, notably GDA and abbey.
it has been set up to run 1 bar on the AVCR.

I think it is a bonus as it will prolong life.
I might take her to 1.1 or even 1.2 as it has fuel pump and decent blower.
jsut see what the MAF and ratios are doing once on the rollers.

I would have thought 1.2mm is ideal but not complaining!!

thanks for yr input!

Oh yeah I ahve a petrol card with work so Shell and me love each other as I don't pay for it!! ha ha!

sounds painful VP.
could it have been sth else other than the gasket? driving? bad oil pump? over revving?

you are all getting me worried now!!

I used to run me skyline on the fuel card!! 60 quid a week on fuel sometimes more!! Like I was bothered!!

It was prob more to do with the fuel and boost controllers I
had fitted the week before I'm not saying where though as
some on here are so stuck up there @rse you need a rope
around the legs to stop them falling in   .

easy tigers.
VP I know you from the reading area right? I was in my gtr on the way to the interpro RR day? hope you are well.
fair comment about boost & fuel as normally all the route of evils!
cheers for the advice anyway and am sure it will be fine.

spoke to GDA who set the car up.....
a bit less grunt at low end, but much safer for 1.2 bar plus it has a 360 roller bearing hyrbid blower with sut back blades to help spool up.

keep it on the black stuff chaps.

it certainly will prolong life as even with running 1 bar you`ve lost loads of torque.you`d prob have to take it to 1.2 bar just to get the lost torque back again.

really? head has been flowed as well as polished up so this may help.

get it on the rollers and see I guess. will prob run to 1.2 just as long as the fuelling is right up there.

AFAIK cut blades can cause lag as although they help it spool up faster this happens later as they cant catch as much air as the standard blade but create less drag so when they get going, they get going.
