i have arp head stud and nut kit and im trying to bolt the head down with no luck. as soon as i try to torque the nuts up they undo / pull the bolts out the block ( not pulling the threads out), any idea what im doing wrong ive try putting the bolts in hand tight and tighting them down before i torque the nuts up and both the same

sounds like the bolts, or head studs are the wrong thread size, i had this once with a set of head studs i bought from motor factor, try to compare the threads on the old studs to the new ones, if i remember correctly they should be m12, new ones supplied were m11, hope this helps.

yes ive checked the threads with a tap and die set and i think they are m11 but on the box they are for a sr20det engine so how can this be wrong

i checked with motor factors and they said it depended on where the engine came from, some used m11 and others m12, not sure about the numbers you have on the box. i know motor factors have started to use a company called blueprint, for japaneese and european cars now, can have a look and see if they list anything, and any part numbers.

arp's web site lists 202-4303 for gtir have a look your self may be worth giving them a ring and telling them the size of stud thats fitted to your engine.

That's not on mate. As you've said, it's their problem as, they advertised them as the wrong thing. Just because you've only just got round to fitting them, means nothing. They are new items and they should take them back in exchange for the correct parts !

If in doubt, and you have strong evidence they were advertising the parts wrongly, threaten them with getting trading standards involved.

Forking rasturds get on to them and tell them on consumer law they have to prove the item was faulty within the first six months then it is you who has to prove that it was/is faulty at purchase after 6 months has passed and the fact that you have (now copy and printed the web page and any receipts) to show incorrect parts supplied which is 100% black and white evidence to a court. Then proceed to inform the mongs it only cost £16 to lodge a complaint with the courts and it will cost them the items value+court fees+your time off work ect and they should see the error of their ways.

Failing that if you have paid via CC then you have additional powers and the bank has to help you out by law as they legally are also responsible for goods purchases so they can’t simply walk away!!!

Finally Eric’s performance parts will sort you he's on fleecebay

Like i said it is black and white as they miss sold a product you could also point out that threads may be damaged in the block due to wrong thread/stripping and may have to recover that cost also should see the coop in a fluster

Failing that tell him you will get your mate We Rob to go round and sit on him :p

If they listed it as a Gtir part then it would not matter what the number was!

You are within your rights I would not let it lie even if you can probably sell them on easy enough.

They made the mistake ie if you bought a manifold that was listed as "GTIR" and received one for a SX then you would be sending it back right away as they might as well have sent you one for an escort as it will always be miss selling something that gets me ticked off as you can tell ;-)
