Hi guys, just a quick question.

My R is still standard apart from things like k&n and blow off, but that doesnt matter.

Standard R suppose to have 220 - 230 hp right?

I mean car goes ok, but does not feel anywhere near 220hp? My ritmo strada 130TC abarth was 140hp and it slams you back in the seat no prob. I mean R goes ok, but where could be the lack of power.

Engine only done 100 000km, sounds very healthy, it goes great but not 230hp great?

Any ideas?

Should I take it for a tune up?

IMHO, pulsars dont feel like they have 220bhp.
Dont forget, its probably heavier than your last car, and we've got the dreaded transmission loss as well.
Also, they make they're power very smoothly, due to the decent sized turbo, so you dont get that laggy on/off feeling.
Best to get it on a RR to see what sort of power you are making.

What davey said is spot on

When i bought mine it was totally standard and didnt feel very quick at all :? Infact the power delivery was so smooth that it didnt even feel like a turbo'd car.

Yup, so true, lag is more or less non existant in the car, so you wont get the kick like you would in a tuned escort rs turbo (T3), its very smooth power from the word go due to small tubby it spools up well quick 8)

Thats 2 people now. Dont get used to it though

The only noise you can hear with the standard airbox and exhaust is the sound of the throttle bodies. No turbo noise whatsoever :(

you gotta keep in mind that this car was designed for rally use to have a massive lag then huge pull would be pointless. no acceleration then all 4 wheels spinning.

i do often wish the R could pull like a bastid but once cranked up to 1 bar its fairly pokey 8)

when i brought my r,it was a uk spec fsh with only 60k,i got a apexi airfilter, and goose exhaust, with decat, and a hkd dump valve, rolling roaded, standard car was 215bhp believe it or not.my r is a very good example also. been talking to loadsa guys and they telling me that they are about 210-15 stanadard and not 220bhp what their meant to be,i was confused as i had done the exhaustt and filter

That 220/226bhp figure would of been produced on 100 octane fuel wont it? jeff.

The uk spec r's were quoted at 220 bhp and the jap ones 227 bhp.

Its cos the uk ones were set up to use 95 ron fuel and the jap ones 100 ron fuel, hence the power difference

But thats only manafacturers figures, so not neccessarily right. They might have only been about 215 bhp
