its been registered as a gti since import (could have been for insurance reasons but i doubt it tbh) more than likely a slip of a pen and someone left the R off when first registered in uk
it is however a genuine gtir 4wd gtir

some cars are listed as sunnys on logbook (but still imports) others just list nissan rnn14 is weird how not every logbook is the same, on my car there is no model just nissan sunny yet its not a sunny its a pulsar gtir, very confusing!
Mine is the same - the Log book says 'Sunny GTi' Special notes: Was registered/Used Overseas. Declared Manufactured 1990. VIN: RNN1400xxxx
The kanji on the dashboard gives away that it's an import, and the rear dif (and huge lumps in the floor pan) show it's a genuine GTiR.
I think some of the people at the DVLA just get lazy and pick whatever is most close from their list of valid cars.

You do get very cheap quotes off those price comparison sites because a GTi is a much lower risk. You have to set the insurance company straight though because if you got picked-up with incorrect insurance, it will get confiscated.

PS - sorry for spamming you sale thread, but it's kinda related information on the legitimacy of the log book.

funnily enough i just sold it today to a guy in wales clive, gonna meet him half way next week in oxford and hes left a fair deposit on it.
its amazing how this car never sold earlier at that price but as you rightly say the markets dead at the moment.

im just pleased i didnt have to break it as it was far too good for that tbh

Oh, I'd forgotten that you were still scarred from driving your truck out this way and having it eaten by our roads!
