Rolling road day???

Well, assuming your car is setup right in the first place you shouldnt be getting any det should ya????? Unlsess of course you just wind the boost up just to try and hit the highest power figures on the day   Rolling roads will always strain a car compared to road use hence why ya shouldnt run unless you are either getting the thing set up or are completely confident in the fact your car is running sweet as a nut! I still recon some people are dissapointed that they didnt hit the power figures they were expecting at the last RR day and are making excuses to go somewhere else

The point of the RR days with Gordon is purely to find out power figures, thats it but im sure if you ask nicely enough he will happily try to accomodate peoples requests due to their personal concerns. I know for a fact that if Gordon thought ANYTHING was even slightly iffy with a car either before or during a power run he would not continue with it. Afterall its his reputation on the line!

My personal opinion anyway (awaits a flaming  )

He didnt stop the run when my Thermostat stuck shut, theres a guage in the car that would have given it away.

From what i remember he did!!! I dont recall your car making past about 5k before he backed out of the run cause it boiled over    Infact was it you that he even said, "are you sure you wanna run it" cause he didnt think it was right?????

The problem here is that everyone wants a rolling road day for like 20 quid with two runs, AFR, knock, mapping, setup, tea, coffee, donuts, dancing girls, full vallet and a chauffeur to drive them home again!!! As soon as all that is included the price goes up to like £60 to £100 PER power run at some places and then people dont come cause "its to expensive!!!" People say they dont mind spending the extra cash for piece of mind etc but when it comes down to handing over the cash all of a sudden they cant make it!!!! OR, ya find somewhere different to accomodate everyone wishes and then its to bloody far for people to travel!!! Unfortunatley ya cant please everyone all the time as i have found out to my own cost reppin this bloody section

Anyway, as stu is organising this on I suggest you take your concerns to him as im sure he will be able to address them better than me ;-)

Justin, you have made some very good points and if i remember the AFR question was mentioned at the last RR day at the PowerStation and the reply went something like "if you want a diagnostic its...............£££££",i can also see your valid point about going on the Dyno only if you know your car is safe to do so,as the title say's this is a ROLLING ROAD DAY not a tuning session,if you feel your car isnt up to a power run then you shouldnt be taking part, this is the very reason that i sat out last time at Street Racers as all of you will remember.

Not starting an argument, but no that wasnt me he said that to. There were no prior indications or symptons of the thermostat sticking except from the temperature guage rising rapidly. It never made it as far as going for a run, it blew the rad while he was holding it mid revs at full boost with his head out the window.
My only concern was a dodgy oil pressure sender, and I was watching that thru back window.

My mistake then mate   Accept my apologies

Cheers Shaun, glad im not the only one who sees it like this 8). I remember you on the day saying that your car wasnt quite right so wasnt gonna risk it on the rollers which i recon is the correct attitude to take  These rolling road days are purely about finding out what power the cars are running and a nice social event for everyone involved  . If you want piece of mind then a rollin road shoot out is not the place to be!!

If diagnosics are involved then not only does the price go through the roof but there is no was that 15 to 20 cars (like the last RR day) would get to run  I agree to a certain extent that monitoring of AFR and the use of Det cans etc would be bloody lovely but in the real world for these kinda prices it just aint gonna happen

At the end of the day if people are worried they are gettin det or runnin lean at high RPM then the best bet is DONT RUN!

    Hello all.

Lets keep the subject on topic please.

There are many reasons why afr and boost should be monitored and det checked for all the way through the run. Ideally you want afr and boost also recorded on a graph.

Personally I dont mind paying £40/£50 pound for a power run but I would expect a full graph showing afr power torque boost etc for that.

Everyone has there own opinion and after all its up top the individual whether they run there car or not. I was just trying to help protect peoples wallets after all the reason we join these clubs is because our cars are our pride and joy and if that means it costs £20/£30 more to help ensure its well looked after then its a small price to pay.

    Thanks
    Paul

Hi guys, as Shaun has already said, we will bring this issue up with Gordon when we go and discuss the date and price of the RRday. I dont get much time away from my kids so im not sure when i can get a day off to go with Shaun and arange things with Gordon.

Thanks for stepping in Shaun and Justin

Im sure Gordon will be able to acomedate us with afr/knock/det monitering!!! But it might not be as cheep as the RRday that Justin organised!!! If it is a cheep we might not get 2 runs like Justin organised!!! What ever the out come Me or shaun will let you know asap.

Lets stay on topic now please guys! and if anyone has any questions about the day Pm me or shaun and we will do our best to answer you!

    Thanks, Stu.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR Guys.

Hi Guys, Me and shaun went to Streetracers today and have sorted the date and price out. Thanks Barry for securing the date for us yesterday mate

The date is 11th March and the price is £25 for 1 run.

Gordon said that if he thought he could get more power out of you car, that he would give you another run on the rollers for that price, but if it makes what he thinks it should make or what you made on the last Rolling road you went on, it will only be the one run.

    Monitoring......

Gordon said if there are people that want there cars monitoring on the "power run" They will have to pay an extra £10 and be last to run on the Rollers.

Remember guys, We are having a "POWER RUN" Not a diagnostic!!! If you dont think your car is healthy or you may have a problem with it, dont run!!! A power run is for those that simply want to know what power they are running!!! Not to see if thier car is running safe to run the power they are running!!!

So its £25 for 1 run and on 11th March.

    stick it in your callender.

As i said on the first post!!! I want the money up front for this, so i can pay it before the Rrday. This way if anyone drops out at the last minute, we dont have to find the extra cost to make up for them dropping out!!! Sorry but thats the way we have to do this!!!

So if you still want to come?? could you confirm it on this thread and send me a cheque for £25 or you can give it to me at the meet next month. For those wanting to send a cheque, pm me for my address.
