i definately would not be paying anyone £400 pound odd to tell me that 'oh yes mr marcymarc your car has spun a shell' thats £472 please:roll:at the worse its a couple hours labour to remove the sump and check the bearings, so why the hell strip the whole engine:?
i would take this one up with trading standards, as they knew full well what was wrong with that car BEFORE there was even one bolt removed.
unless of course mr marcy gave them the go ahead to strip the engine, which is then a different story all together.
marcy....let me know to what extent its stripped as i may possibly be able to help you out here providing your prepared to wait a little while.

Mark, I'll give you some sympathy even if all the others are having their fun. I'd be surprised if anyone on this thread hasn't wanted to torch their R at one time or another. Stu is doing 2 re-builds in as many months and Bobby is not far off. For me there's a very good reason why my R is a second car.... because its actually a garage ornamnet and not a mode of transport.
It has taught me an awful lot about cars and how to avoid unscrupulous, mechanics, traders and salesman. When I bought my R, I was a complete novice really which is probably why the engine failed in the first 10 months. (the car looked good but was bodged in so many ways)
I assumed when you seemed to be getting on with things that you knew the garge well who was fixing the car. I would have made some recommendations otherwise
I don't regret any of the time or money but if I were to do it again, I'd stick with 1.2bar
and just enjoy driving it more than upgrading/fixing it constantly. Can't you just get a spare engine and stick it in, far easier than messing around with re-builds.
