Looking for a big spec GTI-R

There is a complete folder with invoices from the moment it was imported untill now. Including a big one for the geruild. So I'm pretty sure it's a forged engine. But thanks for the warning.

Actually physically check it does have forged internals as I know a few people have been ripped off of late by being told the engine is forged when infact its not.
Or Nismo clutches that aren't in the car... probably that goes for cams too because you can't easily check them.
Just because there's an invoice doesn't mean it's still their either; I honestly believe the guy who sold me mine really did think it had all the bits he'd been told it did (including a Yamamoto ECU). - A lot of cars get put to (relatively) standard before sale because people just won't pay for the parts that went into them.

It's the same with power figures: a dyno printout doesn't mean anything when the turbo/ecu/injectors/etc aren't in the car any more.

Theres a car on pistonehads i looked at when looking about a few weeks ago, he said it has a forged engine hks cams e.t.c, looked like a standard turbo to me, he said it was running standard boost (no boost controller) when i asked if he had reciepts he said 'no i did it all myself but i have a word document with everything ive put onit'
The best bit was when i asked to have a test drive he replys 'the car owes me £10k, no ones driving it except me' (i had insurance) i went out with him anyway (already decided not to buy it) and it was shwoing signs of det sensor being broken, i could see him easing in the throttle

Why not just build one up from scratch pay bob to do it if your not the sprt to get dirty? get one that you know what you have inside, its all well and good going on about large turbos and quaife boxes but thats just the begining countless people come and go with big intentions and end up with a nice pile of parts in a fore sale add, get a normal run of the mill job and make it your own if money is no question

The getting dirty part is no problem, I've been in cars since 1996, even got my own shop since last year, so I know how to put it all together.
I've put my 466bhp/515Nm Peugeot 205 GTI together from scratch so I'm not really scared of doing the same with a Pulsar.
The pile of parts won't end up in the for sale section but on the car ;-)
I'm just trying to get as much info as possible to make a decision wether to buy a standard one (and the parts needed for a bit more power) or a completely built one.
The way it looks now I'm going for a nice clean rustfree car with a forged engine but standard turbo, maf etc..
First step will be to get it imported here and then the rest will follow soon after that.
Sorry if I come over as a snotty little git who is just here bragging about things he's never going to do ;-)

You have copped a bit of flack on the other site haven't you? ...the colour of the stains in your pants (or something like that?):lol:

I think it's that we see so many newbies (mainly kids who can't really afford the costs) with big dreams who then disappear when they realise it's not as simple as buying eBay tuning parts and making something fit for a Fast and Furious movie. - I guess if the build was done to a good quality then you could have the faith to buy it and add your own finishing touches. The problem is that not all the work is done to the highest standard (or by people who really know what they're doing). I'm not saying any of our members would intentionally sell a lemon, but it does happen.

If you do get a relatively standard one, I'm sure you can find buyers for all the bits that have to come off it.

I think you're going down the right route of buying youself a clean car with a forged engine and doing everything yourself. That way you'll be able to either obtain the parts over a period of time and then fit them, or fit them as they come and stretch the build out over a period of time, either way you'll know exactly what's going on with the car and if anything goes wron you've only got yourself to blame!

Oh and keep us updated on the build

That's not a very easy combination to find. Very few people invest in a forged engine and leave the turbo and maf standard.

Depends how much power you want too, if you want to be pushing over 500bhp+ then forged pistons alone won't cut it. You'll need to start looking into having steel liners inserted into the block which is expensive and notoriously tricky. You'll also be getting to the limit of the stock rods at those figures and the turbos you'll require for that sort of power will be best suited to a raised rev limit to increase the usuable power band. 400-450bhp is quite easily obtainable but if you want to push beyond that the costs really start to spiral quickly.

On the 205 I had a 3076R which I liked a lot. When does a 3076 hit full boost (1.6 bar approx) on a Pulsar? With the 205 I had that around 4100 rpm, that's with a compression ratio of 8.5:1 and set up on ron98 fuel.
Let's just dat that I'll be happy if the Pulsar would beat the 205.
500+ bhp isn't the goal (yet)
However.....I do have a gt3582r lying around...;-)
