Hi guys, just wondering if anyone knows any companies that will do good or atleast reasonable quotes on my Pulsar? I'm getting sky high figures from the comparison sites, aviva and direct line. Baring in mind I have 3 points and im 21...but this shouldn't warrent premiums of 10k+ surely?
There must be some less well known or classic insurance that could give me an affordable quote, if you guys could help out in any way it would be greatly appreciated.

Comparison sites are pretty dreadful when it comes to something a bit 'off piste'. Try Adrian Flux or Sky Insurance or another specialist in imports and modified cars.

you could also try A plan thought i suspect your age and points are going to make any company load your premiums .

Unfortunately this is a likely outcome; some of their underwriters may not be able to offer you a policy on age restriction.

21 is still young enough to benefit from one of those blackbox co-pilot/tattler devices... although one of those and GTI-R ownership could prove a bad idea.

Thanks everyone for your input. I tried Flux and got a quote of 2000 pounds for the year which I would happily pay given my circumstances however this was with a black box and as Richard said above a GTIR + black box wouldn't exactly be ideal...may as well have a Micra! I will look at SKY and A plan tonight, hopefully find a decent one.

Another option might be to look at TPFT for a couple of years, just until the premiums are less than the value of the car.

    Good luck!

What's your family status sometimes adding a female or older person can change the quote. I know a couple of people who are second drivers. Also keep mileage to what you might do and a little spare can help

If you're not bothered about increasing your no claims bonus, it might be worth looking at going for classic car insurance as they don't need no claims bonus to insure a vehicle of this age.

However it won't increase your no claims bonus if you don't claim over the 12 month period.

I think if you go down this route then you will need another car as classic car insurance usually means its a second car and not your daily run about .

...or you have to get used to not putting lots of miles on it.

And you probably won’t find classic insurance as your only 21 classic policy’s normally start at the age of 25 so sadly you 4 years to young

    Disgusting figures!!!

...on another note have you asked insurance companies about Pass Plus?

Some insurance companies give discounts for younger drivers for taking this course!

I know, who in their right mind would pay 3/4x the cars value just for a years insurance? It's crazy. I will probably look into that if it means I can get cheaper insurance!
