Quality not quantity.
Got the notification on my phone, will sort when I get back!
What was a shame was I had a reserve list of 10 people after the closing date.
The people that have booked will have a great time. I'm just in the stands now watching the historic formulars and it's great!
If people enjoy this year, I can always organise another stand so that people who have missed it this year can attend next year!
...anyway back to my beer @ 9:25am 8)
If anyone has a spare ticket and will be their tomorrow I can collect at the event, let me know.
Top work Andy!
I'll load up the car and head down tonight; is there anything I need/should bring with me?
I don't have a banner (I think I sent it to Pat).
I don't have a marquee.
I've got an umbrella for the rain, but it's not a Nissan umbrella (and doesn't fit in the holder).
I'll put the action camera in, but I'll see who else is taking footage before I mount it so that it could be combined.
I'm probably going to throw some snacks and drinks in the car so we don't get fleeced too badly on the day(s).
I'll put some cash in my pocket because I suspect I'll need it and there's no ATM on site (or is there?).
It's safe to say that I'm looking forward to this...
Silverstone has provided us with a banner for our stand, however I have got a gtiroc banner just in case
Being food and drinks at its expensive (although they're is a dominoes here which is well priced)
Saturday is sunny Sunday is cloudy with patches of rain.
I'll stop by Tesco on the way in tomorrow morning. - See y'all then!
Just got the R Mot'd yesterday or else i'd have joined you on the stand
I've been home for a couple of hours now; I took the M40 home rather than battle the M1 again.
I'll try to get some shots posted, but I seem to have nothing of cars on the stand.
The weather on Friday was poor by all accounts, but possibly not as bad as Sunday?
I battled down the M6 and M1 at 50mph for most of the way due to roadworks and congestion wherever there wasn't roadworks to find that I was staying with a chunk of the NSX owner's club:
There were also a handful of BMWs (including Alpinas)... but they weren't all parked together to make it easy to take a photo.
On the Saturday we had a walk around the paddock and stands. I thought the old F1 cars were quite interesting:
As you'd expect there were a few of the more "exotic" marques:
Our parade lap was behind the MR2s and in front of the NSX'
The pace was fairly pedestrian; I don't know what the hold up was because we had a couple of chances to get some speed up.
A pity about the spide webs, but an artistic shot by Jim nonetheless:
These marshals encouraged us to put our foots down, so we obliged.
Sunday was pretty wet resulting in many of the demonstrations being cancelled. Most of the racing went on, but after this carnage in the Formula Juniors it mostly involved the first 5 minutes with a safety car on track:
After lunch we watched the historic F1 cars on track, then the cold and wet got too much and we gave up and went home.
Nice pics, who's is the winter green, love that colour on an R ?
It was a good day! Good to catch up with old faces and say hello to people I hadn't met before! Some nice pictures there too!
Hey guys shame about the rain on Sunday but Saturday was great, good to meet the owners that where there, I have some pics but i dont have attachment permission or I can send someone the pics to post !!
Some good photos George
Hope everyone had a good time that went.
I know a few people messaged me or called me about not making it for one reason or another.
For everyone else, hope you enjoyed the action on the Saturday, however Sunday was that abysmal with rain that the racing was stopped for 2hrs while the track cleared.
However if you stuck around there was some fierce wet racing afterwards in the Super Touring Cars!
I'm off to bed as I'm totally knackered and pretty much dead!
I got some pictures from the stand and some footage from the parade lap (although running a front facing cam and getting shooed to the front it'll mostly be of Mk1 MR2s forming a traffic jam.) I'll get them posted tonight.
...and although mine was facing backwards it looks like the usable footage is all off us lining-up on track waiting for the MX-5 owners to get moving.
After that the lense gets progressively more fogged with condensation and finally the camera fell over (as pointed-out to me) so the last 5 minutes are of an ivory spoiler.
I'll see if there's anything worth posting anyway.
