I was after a well modded GTiR but there arent any around that i want. So i found a 400bhp Escort cossie for sale in Keighley trade centre, If anyone lives near there could you possibly pop in and have a look for me as its a long drive for me for nothing.? Any views on the garage ? Are we allowed to talk openly about garages??
i have no real clue on engine but could you look at bodywork for dents scratches etc?

Thanks

If you want a nice R and you have a decent wod of cash why not get a nice standard example and mod it yourself at least that way you know the car hasn't been modded and thrashed to within an inch of its life hopefully

My mate bought a car from keighley trade centre.............4 weeks later and gearbox went bang!!! now yes he could have thrashed it in that time, but his mum collected the car and then it sat on his drive till his old insurance ran out and he started his policy on his new car. 300 yards down the road and bang, bits all over the floor...........and somehow not covered under warranty

I've never heard a good thing said about KTC by anyone who's been there.

Allegedly they occaisionally get a couple of nice cars in, but they're few and far between. If you're realy interested, get someone who's into Cossies to have a look at it.

I had a look at that one too (in pictures) bear in mind its a trade in so the garages rep shouldnt really affect this car, it has some mods that the purists would hate but generally speaking i like it 8) and from a trader its a cracking price too

Looks good in the pictures, and a good price ,but to get a cossy up to 400bhp costs sheds loads of money if it is going to last ,any papers to prove it's got 400,i see scc have done some work on it ,they know there ford stuff, unless it's just a sticker

Good escort cosworths cost 14k upwards, would have one now if there was room in the garage, i love the bloody things
Me and the ex missis went to view an imperial blue one last year, very nearly bought it.....but just couldnt go through with it in the end due to not having suitable garage space.

On the Keighly note, do not touch a car from there under any circumstances.

I went down to keighley trade centre to buy a "mint" motor as the guy put it on the phone. Drove down from Glasgow and got there, looked ok nothing special. one rev of the car and it was like an extra from a bond movie!!! Clouds of smoke everywhere!! Guy was insisting that it was just steam, I think I know the difference mate I'm not buttoned up the back! Wouldn't let me drive any of the cars and most of them wouldn't be worth driving anyway!

I was raging that the mint examples of cars that I went to look at were all sheds that had abused wrote all over them or had been crashed before. And to top it off the guy that ran the place was a total c0ck!!!

Whenever I asked him question's he didn't have a clue!! Is the milege on these cars genuine? Don't know mate. Are they undersealed? Don't know mate. Is there any receipts for the car, don't know mate, etc.

Hit attitude stunk, he just seemed as if he couldn't be bother so I just walked away.

Would never go back to this company due to the lies he told me on the phone about how good all of his cars were to go and look at the sheds he was trying to sell!

Actually I think you should go and see for your self how much of a joke this place actually is!! Would make a good day out if your after a good laugh!!

Chris, surely a decent modified 400bhp R will come up sooner or later? Maybe leave details with ian and a few other places so if they hear anything about a big spec thinking of selling then they can contact you?

Will you be using it as everyday transport? Personally if I was looking at 400bhp for an everyday car, then I would go for a later Evo instead if your ok about the running costs, at this stage of tune an R (or cossie) can only be a weekend car surely?
