Clio V6 and clio trophy

Some of you may have noticed that over the last few months i've been selling off lots of high spec parts from my car, i'm just finalising the details of my engine sale and will then sell the rest of the car as a rolling shell. The reason for this has been due to a new house purchase and the fact that i've had enough of always spending fortunes of the pulsar....so i'm now looking for another car.

I've been seriously considering a phase one Clio V6, now i know they have a reputation for on the edge handling but i think they look awsome and although not as quick as its looks would indicate they are pretty nippy (0-60 in 5.8) they are relitivly new and Evo magazine ran one as a long term test car and had nothing but good things to say about it and praised it reasonable running costs (certainly not something us pulsar owners can say), has anyone on here had one or driven one? i'm after some unbiased opinions really as on paper it ticks a lot of boxes for me...the wife likes it, it looks great, running costs are reasonable, its rare, there isn't a load of tuning options (better for my wallet and marrige) and its quick.

I've also been looking at the Clio Trophy, its pretty quick (0-60 in 6.3), pretty exclusive with only 500 making it to the UK, great handling and thought they might be good fun at a reasonable price, i used to own a Williams about 11 years ago and loved that car to bits.

Any advice appriciated.

at least he will be able to drive it kieron, instead of having it parked up in the garage repairing it all the time, as you and i seem to always be doing, had mine over a year now, one trackday and 3 days on the road:shock: the rest of the time modding or repairing:lol:

back to your question dean
i wa\s going to initially buy a clio 182 to enter in the clio cup series!
and i have to say that i almost did go that gay way, untill i drove an R:-D

they are fantastic cars to drive, very quick and nimble and a lot of fun!
the new 192 is even better so ive heard.
the R is more superior in power delivery and imo handling too, when set up correctly, but the clio seems like your going quicker, when in fact your not:?

have only driven the v6 ( to get one mot'd)
but it looks the nuts, is very quick and torquey, but a bugger to work on, and parts are expensive when they break.

out the two i would go for the clio cup car over the v6 (if your a spirited driver, and like the twisty stuff)
but if you want a car for pose value and motorway munching then the v6 is the car for you.
hope that helps dean!

The thing is deep down i konw the 182 trophy will be the better drive but in truth i am a big gay poser and the V6 has big gay pose appeal.

Just so there is no misunderstanding i'd like to make it clear that although i am fine with gents of that persuassion, each to there own and all that, i am not a big gay and that when i mention in my first post i have a wife she really is a girl and not a hairy arsed chap.

Clio V6 is a superb car to own. One of my favourites, it's just a great experience. Anyone that says a normal clio is just as quick, blah, blah, blah... they are missing the point.

The whole package can't be compared, the sound, the mid engine, I loved the handling (just make sure someone hasn't got too much air in the fron tyres)

I hate it when people slate cars they haven't owned.

Only let down for me was the performance, but then I'm used to a lot faster machinery. Although they aren't slow, just you don't get the turbo placebo shove.

Mine still pulled to 150 easily and cruised there.

I'd love a supercharged one, it'd be almost the perfect car IMO

thats 3 homosexuals now:shock:
would you like to join our band of gay merry men kieron?
were all quite local, and can share our gayness with each other over a cup of earl grey, and a nice big pink fairy cake, with a nice gay fondant topping:lol:

reckon your gonna get the v6 dean;-)
you will be dissapointed with the acceleration though, not as lively as the clio cup cars.
but does look a beast, i have to admitt!

I hope so....it won't be for a few months as the new house is top priority but i got it for a really good price which means i'm going to have enough cash to get all the work that needs doing done pretty quickly.

That banks loads of browny points with the wife and as a reward for my grown up attitude i'll have minimum resistance from her....in fact i think she's looking forward to a V6 throbbing beneath her.

As for the dissapointing acceleration i've got 9 points with 3 years still to run so i think that will be a good thing.

Thanks very or the offer of hoists etc for the engine removal, i did try to pm you back but for some reason i couldn't.

i had a renault 1916v before the R, it was a great went alright for a 1.816v, but renault build quality is shockingly very poor, the R is better build quality.

but the clio V6 does look the nuts, and sounds awesome, but at the end of the day it is a clio and french, and i vowed never to own a french car again, apart form a track car.

renault parts are very exspensive, more exspensive than the pulsar's imo.

yes dean, just read pm!
where are you in essex?
if your not far away from me, and you can leave it till next weekend or week after, i will give you a hand to drop it all.
in the meantime, remove the driveshafts and all the necessary bits, and il pop over and drop it all for you, il just do it with a couple of trolley jacks and a big lump of wood (dont need hoist) and it will only cost you a slice of cake and some tea
but if you cant wait that long, then your more than welcome to borrow the hoist and a trolley to drop it onto

Funny you've got so many gay pics easily accessible! Does everyone need to see your holiday snaps every 5 minutes?

It looks like someone's trying to make his way out of the closet lads?! :D :p

Cheap to run, but the biggy is the cambelt change (as you'd imagine) think the stealer wants circa £1k for the job. Pretty sure a specialist (who I'd rather take it to) asks around £600.
