If its magnetic and sticks to the disc, can you use it thru the wheel....because if you have to jackup the car and remove the wheel and do it then how will you get a proper reading!!

I can't find a decent website for them but I've been borrowing Stu's recently and it is a fantastic piece of kit for the money. You can buy a special longacre wheel frame to fit one too but that is more expensive than the tool and I found a good piece of MDF against the alloy did the same job.

It takes seconds to get an accurate reading of +/- 0.1 degs (first time calibration is key) but the really nice touch is you can measure the camber with the wheel off whilst making adjustments.

Update;

When I'd looked recently you can by a cross between Steve's and this that has the advantage of the easy fitting and castor measurment but with the accuracy of the digital gauge. IIRC they were neaer £150 though.

There is a strong magnet on the base which is disk shaped and has at least a 1 inch hole through the middle of it, with the car on a flat surface (all wheels on and settled suspension) the magnet fits perfectly over the hub shaft and the base of the magnet sits perfectly flush (all by complete chance) on my wheel.

I have set my camber using the gauge and my alignment via a string across the face of front and back wheels several times now and the car drives perfectly, the last time I did it I had both the camber and alignment checked and all settings were as I had set them.

Very pleased with the gauge

Stevey can you list a how to for me as i am unsure as to the exact way to use one of these gauges never set toe in toe out myself either am i right in thinking you can on the rear as well?? :?
