Bearings supplier deal eg. bumpsteer, wheel

After buying a bump steer kit off "Kirko", I needed to organise the bearings for now and thought I would use the same place Steve P did. I e-mailed them last night and just got a very polite and professional repsonse.

So Admin, how do we close the loop on this and setup a deal with ABC for everyone in the future. I get the impression they are willing to maintain the discount Steve got as long as we pull our finger out too. From a memebers perspective, I can see the advantage of just quoting a refernce for a package rather than getting a cover from one place and a bearing from the another etc.

My mind is also boggling over doing some other funky suspenion mods but I'm sure there will be a lot of run of the mill stuff like wheel and gearbox bearings we might use. So users, you pull your finger out too and have a think of what else we might need as if ABC are polite, professional and cheap, why not leverage them for other parts. We just need to decide what we need.

Hi Jim

Many Thanks for your recent email, we are always looking at tie-ins with car clubs etc. We have set up trade agreements with the Porsche owners club on wheel bearings and other ancillary items meaning that any club member that requires a part just has to quote a club reference number to take advantage of the special offers given to that club.

We would be willing to set up the same kind of deal but normally we like to look at all the bearings that we would be able to supply to make it advantageous for both parties (in laymans terms all the wheel bearings, gearbox bearings etc).

With regards to your specific enquiry we also recommended a set of side spacers and rubber dust boots meaning the complete kit consists of the following:

GAXSW14x1.5MS x 2 @ £ 28.59 £ 45.14
MRDW14 (side spacer) x 4 @ £ 1.20 £ 1.38
RDDS8 (dust cover) x 2 @ £ 2.20 £ 2.53

Delivery Methods available

1ST Class Mail (at customer sole risk) @ £ 3.99
RMSD (Royal Mail Special Delivery) @ £ 5.45
DHL (Overnight delivery) @ £ 8.00

As you can see from the prices in blue above we offered Steve Pudney substanstial discounts based on Steve "spreading the word", which obviously he has done by you contacting us.

So where do we go from here?? Who would we need to speak to to get details of the other bearings?? How would we get details of this offer and any other subsequent deals through to other members??

I look forward to your ealiest comments

Best Regards
Lee Sinclair

im working on some adjustable anti roll bars i will get some pics up when i get them sorted,
i was thinking of making some adjustable bottom arms also but i think you can go too far and lose the basic geometry so thats on hold for now

Oooh, nice.

I was also thinking adjustable bottom arms or just some that raise the location of the ball. I've seen a design used by the SR boys that removes the lower ball joint completely and replaces it with a high quality bearing/spindle. It corrects the camber curve on lowered cars.

A part from wheel bearings can you think of any other normal bearings we might need being a mechanical engineer and all?

BTW, here is the homepage and webshop: http://www.autosport-bearings.co.uk/

Que Dave (Kirko)

Unfortunately for ABC I'm not sure how many other bearings of thiers we'd be able to use.

But I can try making this thread or one like it a sticky in the upgrade section for now.

Thanks J10gtr, I think ABC only expect a hand ful of parts for any car as I think this short list will do to show willing.

I was then thinking we should just create the list, tell them, agree a reduction on all of them and package, create a GTIROC reference for people to quote and package it altogether in a post in the members benefits section.

ABC mentioned that, just wondering how we identify the bearings to know what to order off them.

We would have to have a friendly Nissan parts man, supply all the bearings, send them to ABC, they can then use them as a reference. Then send all the supplied bearings back to the parts man.

Most bearings have an ID number of some sort stamped or engraved on them so I would imagine used ones would be fine.

Sorry, that's all Lee said they needed, if we can give them the ID number that is normally the original manufacturers ID rather than a NIsan number and they can trace it back.

So if anyone have the bearings lying around with the ID numbers still on them we should be able to get them direct cheaper :D
