Agree with Astrazona. I've had a few iridium plugs fail on my pulsar. The BCR8s are as tough as old boots and work fine. Smaller plug gaps may make your low rev and idle less smooth but it won't hurt the car. A refresh of your ignition system can also help.

Exactly what Andy says. A 2871r will flow more than a T28. It will need more fuel. Hopefully no damage done but get youafr readings to check. More flow equals more fuel and boost which might require smaller plug gaps of 0.6mm on a standard ignition.

What have you done with your pulsar today?

What's wrong with your turbo Andy, did bits of piston damage the turbine blades?

What have you done with your pulsar today?

Changed gearbox oil, took the car for a tentative drive and seems to shift better now. Need to go for a longer drive with revs to know it's resolved whatever happened before. One for another day

What have you done with your pulsar today?

Just bought some fresh gearbox oil, will change that at the weekend and see if any metal bits come out or whether it solves the synchro issue.

What have you done with your pulsar today?

They're getting popular in drifting circles so not total rubbish. I know some of the other copy brands are. I've not used them but can't find a bad review from the people who are. Check it out online and let me know

What have you done with your pulsar today?

Once cool the next day it went into 1st and reverse. Could drive forward and back. Can't get 3rd and sounds a bit rattly in neutral. Might be worth a bit more exploring first like you say.

What have you done with your pulsar today?

I've been looking seriously at pulsar turbos, China copy of garret but can't find any significant concerns online. Apparently the cores are made in the same place? Most reviews praise them for unexpected quality. £500 for a gtx2, not worth worrying about a rebuild

What have you done with your pulsar today?

Bad news. On the drive back, did a quick pull in 1st/2nd for the map, went into 3rd but didn't go in, went into 5th and was locked in there. Had to get towed home. Back in the garage again. Will need to drop the box as something has failed. Probably need to find some patience first.

What have you done with your pulsar today?

Good news. Revised my breather system so the crank case has its own separate feed to the catch can from the head, unblocked the PCV valve and ran a separate breather again to the catch can. Total of 3 breather pipes and finally the oil smoke being pushed through the turbo on overrun has...

    Up and running.

Well done Cathode, great news. When I was reading your symptoms I was thinking air leak. On my first engine build the inlet air gasket had a slight leak. I swapped it out to fix the problem. There are so many opportunities to leak in the inlet manifold area, you just have to keep going...

What have you done with your pulsar today?

I'm getting out in the car every couple of weeks to do some mapping and fettle issues whilst running the engine in. Done about 400 miles in total. Currently running at 1.1bar, using up to full throttle and 6000rpm. Everything is starting to smooth out between it all. Starting to enjoy going...

It's a win, nice when that happens.

Looks good Mark. I forgot how many toys you have got to fit. Looking forward to the build

What have you done with your pulsar today?

@Cathode, I'm not surprised Abbey want to use something else, modern ECU's practically map the fuelling themselves. In terms of your car's poor running, have you changed the injectors or MAF as part of the rebuild? Those are something you can check quite easily from the commander. Anything...

What have you done with your pulsar today?

Drove the car the other day after changing the oil and plugs to something more appropriate for boost mapping. First time coming on boost (0.8bar, 3500rpm) and there was strange noise from the engine bay after which the car was running 10 AFR's and I was forced to limp home. Left it in the...

    engine oils

I'm just reviving an old thread as I was looking for the answer from 15 years ago but it was all posted on the tech forum which sadly is no more. To fill in the gaps. Stumo spoke to Silkolene R&D about the most appropriate oil for our cars. Nissan recommend a semi-synth 10W30 for our cars...
